For a few years at least the government should keep immigration and migration at the same levels.
Only letting in a % of skilled/semi workers and refugees.
We as a island/country is now FULL

Moaning about the weather and immigration :snork:

Anyway I'd just like to say that this thread has moved on a bit from how I intended it to go.

It was really supposed to be about the Mayor of Calais pointing out to our politicians the problems their immigration policies are causing over there.
And the supposedly lack of any understanding from our politicians that their lack lustre approach is partly or wholly to blame.

It doesn't matter what any of them say, they seem unable to tackle the open door policy that we have, which the people jumping on the backs of lorries in Calais know exists here, once over the channel.

I'm not sure the French would go along with that one rosie:snork:

Anyway the problem would probably just move to Boulogne or further North.

Surely it needs a change from our approach on this side of the channel, to stop them actually wanting to come here.
In other words make France appear to be a better place to stay than here.

I'm sure the french people don't want them staying there either, this is a BIG problem and I really don't think our government is treating the issue as seriously as they should be.

Who in their right mind would want to live in France? Driven tho it many times in the past, cobbled streets, mucky loos that is if you can find one, jump over the hedge if your desperate to find hundred people have visited...I could go on. Youngest daughter was sent on exchange at 11 years old speaks perfect French her host complimented her saying she speaks like a French woman,,OMG what have I done? but in later life it stood her well, The French girl I got in exchange was an education. It was the time of the common Market debate she said My Father... he say you are Fou think that means mad.... Her table manners were perfect have never forgotten how she filleted a fish on her plate bones neatly put to one side I have to say I admire how they raise their children all so well mannered this was in the 60s tho

Let's not forget that 320,000 people left the UK to live abroad between June 2012 and June 2013. Yes, there are highly populated areas, but I wouldn't call that full.

That map looks very crowded to me. The big problem with building over our farming land is we now import more food then we ever have, that just shifts the problem elsewhere and makes it even more expensive to live here.

So at what point would you consider us Full?

The people coming here in many cases are coming from countries with much lower population density than here.
Maybe 320 000 people did leave the UK last year, but they were probably just the kind of people we need to keep, most with skills we are trying to top up from abroad.

What ever way you look at it we are on a downward spiral.
