He was 85, so had a good innings.
It just surprises me how old everyone is getting these days.

I think there's a lot of memories tied up with his music as it stirs up images of a certain decade. At least there'll be some good jazz music up there now!!

                Talented musician and composer.

Can't remember where I learned about it but originally he was going to name that piece of music "Jenny" (after his daughter).

Wasn't it originally used as a theme tune to a children's programme on TV.

He did, but it was changed when it became the theme tune to the tv programme of the same name

                      Yes it was

It must be something to do with our age, but we have certainly lost a few greats this year.. RIP Aker..

                          A great musician.

Another tune that Acker made very popular was the theme from the film 'A Taste of Honey'. The film was set in Salford (if I remember correctly) and won lots of awards. It set Rita Tushingham on the way to stardom.

The film got 4 BAFTA's and Rita got Best Newcomer. She also got a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer and a Best Actress at Cannes. Not bad from a newbie.

She always said that she loved Acker's version of the theme tune.

Quite a haunting tune that one, Shy Knee, but beautiful  (thank you for posting: never heard it before)
