With the right contacts a car registration number is all they need.

If I was in an RTC I would hope any paramedic will get on with saving my life instead of reading my personal details. Seconds count here.

True, but at that end of the spectrum of professionalism, they wont be targeting at 17 year old Volvo tank.

At an injury RTC paramedics *would* be getting on saving your life ... but, they wouldn't be the only emergency service attending ;)

Nobody needs to break into a car to find out all about you if they have access to a computer. Have you never searched yourself on your computers or smart phones? It isn't difficult to find out details that you thought you had kept to yourself quite well. The details on the discholder thingy need only be filled in as much or as little as you are comfortable with. I'd put in a name, a phone number, relevant medical information and an emergency contact person, with their permission.

Agreed, Lea, but why would you break into a car when you can see the information through the windscreen???:snork:

You are forgetting the security measures, Our Mandy - the personal information is private to all bar the emergency services due to hi-tech security ... it is FOLDED :paladin:

Isn't the windscreen the first bit of the car the fire brigade smash and toss aside in order to cut you out?

Maybe: but now they are aware that such vital information could be attached to it ... :dunno: ... maybe their tossing days are numbered?

:dunno: I don't think the Police's proposal will hide the information, "M", since the format is in the shape of a Tax Disc and positioned in the corner of the Windscreen where the Bad Guys ability to see it, folded or not, is a temptation that some one will take.:dunno::coffee:
