We had a fox wandering around on the farm today.

Not sure what was wrong with it, it just kept walking mostly in circles, it went around one of the large farm buildings a couple of times, before actually walking into our workshop, with us standing there, noise of machinery also.

I walked through my legs at one point as if I wasn't there.

It tried to get into a cupboard, it appears to be looking to get somewhere dark.

Eventually it crawled under the timber rack and stayed there.

After a bit of coaxing with a long stick it came out, it then walked straight into a large cardboard box which I was holding, we taped the lid down and the boss took him to the vets.

I'm guessing they will just put him down, but who knows, they might find a sanctuary that takes foxes if he turns out to be in reasonable health

I wonder if it is injured? I know of a fox sanctuary in twitter if you'd like me to find their details?

Not got him now Ellen, Thanks all the same, he was left at the vets.
I was thinking that, they have rat poison down on the farm, but its in those containers.
I had the impression he was just looking for a dark place to lie down and die.

Today, I learned that foxes ..

              ... eat blackberries!

The potential to ingest a poison (of some kind) grows.

I've seen fox vomit full of yew seeds, they get away with eating most things, even very rotten fish.

I think they get away with eating worse stuff than most dogs can.
                  They have to, to survive.

I think either way, whether the vets decide to put him to sleep, or see they can make him better, he's in a better place than being cold & in pain somewhere. I know it's what would normally happen to most foxes and it's easy to humanise some things, but, well...

Poor chap, yes could be poison that he had eaten in some way, whether eating a poisoned animal or what.. They do look for a dark place to die when they know their time is up or very poorly as this chap seemed.. It would seem his eyesight etc were pretty messed up so either suffering effects of poison or old age and blindness I would think.. Well done for taking him to a vet..
