Do you buy 'working' dog food to get it VAT free?

It is a specialist greyhound food 20% protein, perfect for a non working dog, the chicken thigh bumps it up a bit. A 15 k sack lasts about a month so works out to about 50p a day + thigh 40p less than a pound overall.
Another reason I buy 2/3 sacks a time is Pet Supermarket is the only place sells it, as they deliver free I buy in bulk, and only when 10% off.

:rolleyespink: Hell, you say, it's me again ... but we do. All our life we have budgeted everything and to this day we still do. So, we go grocery shopping (which I abhore) once a week on a Wednesday (today in fact after a lunch out) and if we need or want it we buy it, irrespective of price ... nice if we see it in the 'reduced' section but, if it isn't we buy it. Sometimes we don't go shopping because we feel we don't need something. We have two fridge/freezers and one under-counter fridge with mini freezer .... and to be honest I 'lose' or 'forget' what I've got where ... doh! must be age ... ! So, why bother? We also eat out at least three times a week because it is cheap here.

With all of the above, I still do not spend my weekly budget (including alcohol) ... which even includes going to the one Iceland in Portugal (15 minutes from me) and going OTT with what we miss from the UK.

We would rather sleep late and laze around rather than driving to this, that and the other store saving a few Euros here or there which even though we have fuel savings coupons here interfere with our leisure time. We retired to retire not to make a hobby of shopping and spend time with our friends enjoying life.

Can't afford to visit the seaside? http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/n...side-trip-out-of-reach-for-poor-30533812.html

Day coach trips are a fraction (half?) of the cost of rail fare, so why not take some sandwiches and share a big bag of chips to eat with them as a treat, and buy 4 ice creams for £1 at the local supermarket. That's what we do (apart from the coach travel, but that's how we did family holidays before my parents could afford a car - and we still do stuff like that).

We go on multiple camping holidays + several caravan hols booked online with Sun Holidays @ about £70 for a 4 night midweek break, and take our own food, crops, homebrew, etc. About 1o hols a year.

Whatever next, a new government funded initiative called 'help to holiday'?

As Victoria said, but also we don't get all these special offers over here. Our supermarkets are of the take it or leave it attitude. :heehee:

Got a code for 300 extra Tesco Clubcard points on my next shop at Tesco Direct, so I've ordered a packet of 5 ballpoint pens for only 50p (reduced from £1) with free click and collect and for 50p I've got £3's worth of points that I'll use when there's a double up to get £6 towards something, or exchange for 4x their value towards a family meal at Prezzo when our daughter comes home for Xmas (and I've now got an extra present for her). No wonder Tesco profits are down.

I reckon the next promotion will start around the 10th Jan 2015. You either have to collect tokens from the Sun, or join Sun+ before the online site opens and cancel after you've booked, costing about £1. Once you've been on one holiday you get emailed codes so you can book online, sometimes even before the Sun+ members get in.

We were in one last week, a spacious, luxurious, caravan with central heating, freezer, en-suite, etc. and this was the view of the cliff tops from the caravan's balcony plus another pic of those cliffs from the harbour.

For late afternoon entertainment we'd visit the local Morrisons each day at 5:00 to 5:30pm when they'd be knocking down all their reduced stuff to 9p or 19p, or free if they were on multi-saves. We took back home as much food as we'd taken away with us!

East Cliff & beach, West Bay, Dorset, as seen on Harbour Lights, Broadchurch and the opening scene in the first episode of The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin.
