    Hi all,

I think I know the answer to this already, however no harm in asking.

Is it too late to mow the lawn?? I would have done it a week or so ago but it has been very wet. Now that the lawn has dried out a bit I was just wondering if I could get away with one last mow as it's rather long.

Should be OK as long as the lawn isn't frosty. Cut with the blades set higher than in summer.

The lawn wouldn't be frosty as it would be early afternoon. Also as the rain is near on non-stop at the moment would mowing wet lawn be a bad thing??

It wouldn't be the best thing. Your mower wont properly suck it up, and wet crash will just mash against the blades, so that within a few seconds you'll be smashing the grass down rather than making a clean cut.

If its too wet to enjoy using the lawn, I'd say its too wet to mow and not necessary anyway.

If it was dry enough I would mow it at this time of year. You could brush the wetness out with a (witches) broom if you have one?

Just did mine this afternoon, looking at the forecast for the next few days it's looking very wet.

Apparently it's what the professionals do to take off the dew before mowing.

Yes, quite agree - also a soft tine leaf rake would do as well.

Perhaps we should have asked earlier - What type of Mower do you have? - some are much better than others on wet grass.

I think at the moment the ground is too wet to brush the water off.

A standard single blade electric mower with collection box at the back.

When is the earliest I can mow it next year?

I mowed mine yesterday and quite often mow in December and January - if there's no frost.

I just mow when the grass gets annoyingly long, regardless of the time of year, but it does depend on the grass being dry, and not frozen.

I mow at any time if it isn't too wet. I recall one year mowing the grass for Christmas to have it looking good and then it snowed and it couldn't be seen LOL

Ok thanks guys. I shall mow it when it's fairly dry then. Although that could be next year at the rate that the rain is falling.
