Oh dear, will Shiney get banned for that anti-cat post?

You can always get a live trap, then you can decide to dispatch or release depending on what's in there. They do that up in Northumberland where there are still some reds in the wild.

There is a black and white cat which patrols locally; I've spied him a good few times on the neighbours sheds. Wouldn't dream of chasing him off with a water pistol ... I have an Ozzy and I know how to use him :doggieshmooze: :heehee: (And that cat knows which side his bread is buttered ;) :cat-kittyandsmiley: )

And presumably Ozzy is well-trained? @"M". Round here, dog training consists of hunt commands and encouragement to shred cats if the dogs can catch them:sad: Basics like 'Stay, heel and get your nose off the table' appear to be far too complicated and / or superfluous.
As far as squirrels go, ours are reds and rather partial to hazelnuts and walnuts. The little walnut tree produced it's first decent crop this year. Tufty was keeping them under close surveillance, but not close enough:heehee: My tree, my nuts!:yahoo:

              :ouch1:
He knows I would have his guts for garters if he even *thought* about cat shredding! :nonofinger: He still tries to play with Echo (who is far too dignified to lower himself to playing with a canine :cat-kittyandsmiley: ) but, he does know that Echo is higher than him in the pecking order: I popped some chicken off cuts into Ozzy's bowl the other week and while Ozzy was patiently waiting for the command to eat it, Echo marched over, sniffed the cooked chicken and .... helped himself :heehee: Echo was very happy :cat-kittyandsmiley: Ozzy was :yikes: but not at any point did he even attempt to chase Echo off - he just looked, pathetically, at me as if to say: "But that was *mine*, Mimmy" :cry3:
Then, of course, I have to prevent him from chook bating :chicken: :wallbanging: He does like to pick them up in his jaws and romp around the garden with one (never, ever so much as broke the skin on one of them though!). So, in Ozzy's world, we don't teach "hunt", we teach "Leave it!" :paladin:
              :doggieshmooze:

PS: The reference to Ozzy was in the context that his bark is worse than his bite ... just don't tell the neighbourhood felines! *shhh*

Mea Culpa! What a difference a comma makes!! :love30:

'Any rabbits that manage to get through the rabbit fencing and cats, get the air rifle treatment'

That's just as bad as getting apostrophes wrong!

So does Phlomis by the looks of it! That is lovely!

The garden is covered in Phlomis :blue thumb:. we have about six large patches of them. They even grow alongside our bonfire. :hate-shocked: It doesn't matter how big or how hot the fire is, they always flower beautifully each year. :)

Ouf! What a relief on all counts! Sorry to be over-sensitive, but out here the antics of La Chasse are a constant worry.....
                          What beautiful pusses:wub2:
