I don't get to much to compost in my present garden and the only time I have a problem is when I'm emptying the beds at the end of the season. What I can't cram into the composter I take to our amenity site and they recycle it.

As long as you have a good mix in the dalek it won't need 'stirring'. I just lift mine off spring and autumn (it has no base) take away what's rotted down and toss the bit that's left back in. :)

I'm really bad for stirring the compost bin, I can't help myself! Every weekend at the moment.

If you stick some good ole human urine on your heap too it will heat up much quicker.

Got a load of tigger worms preparing to leave ours today, they were all stacked up in the lid. Must be waiting for the mothership or something?

"Tigger" worms are what Winnie the Poo's stripey friend suffered from. Tiger worms are the ones for compost. :-)

They have in our two Dalek worm bins for the past 12 years. When it gets very cold they tend to move to the middle. Once upon a time I wrapped bubble wrap round the bins, but now I don't bother and the worms survive.
