I don't think we have any in close range but if it invades my garden it will be dealt with by means of controlled fire.

Not sure a fire would kill the roots, best take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Usually takes 2 - 3 years of Roundup application twice a year to finish it off completely.

I just watched a video about knotweed. Being that it can grow throw walls and such I will not be bringing any into the close let along my house.

It doesn't actually break through concrete as such, but if there is a weakness or a crack in the concrete or stone, and Japanese Knotweed is growing in the vicinity, it will likely find it's way through such a crack, and then begin to grow through it.

It is a difficult plant to deal with. As has been rightly posted above, it can take 2-3 years to completely rid an area.

However, the good news is that it needn't be a scary as a lot of the newspaper articles would have you believe...It also needn't be ridiculously expensive to get rid of. (For transparency, our firm specialise in getting rid of Japanese Knotweed from people's gardens). The key is allowing the experts to work out the best solution for anyone's particular given situation - Each and every case is very different, and there are various solutions for differing budgets, and different senses of urgency.

Always happy to help explain things, if anyone is in need of advice and is worried or concerned.
As for the sheep - it's an interesting theory, but can't say that I have ever heard of success that way ;-)
