Alternate heat and ice packs, rest as much as possible and if you are not asthmatic ibuprofen gel massaged may help or tablet form if it is painful.
Hope it soon recovers for you, Clue.

The bulk of the pain is on my inner thigh, but there's a dull ache in my lower back and the muscle that runs down the front of my leg.

Sorry FC, I've just realised you were not joking. I don't think there's any sciatic nerve damage thankfully. Just muscle inflammation.

I have some essential oil of rosemary. I'm going to rub some of that in after a hot bath. Rosemary oil is brilliant stuff, and so under rated. Apart from acting as a localised anti-inflammatory, the fumes also give you very intense dreams.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, sleep and work as usual....

Yeah, I was wondering about sciatica, so good that it's not the case for you. Hope you feel better soon

I'm pleased to report that having rubbed rosemary oil in last night then again this morning, I was walking without hobbling by 10:30AM. No pain now, although I haven't chanced exerting any force on it yet. Hopefully I'm on course to be fit for tomorrow's event.

                            1) Go for early retirement on ill health grounds.

                            2) Rub some gel on it.
