Well, after having a bit of a google, I came over something of interest.
Last year I suspected that maybe my vitamin D level might of been low, so I took a fairly low dose supplement spray for a while (as I wasn't sure), until the summer came. During the 8 weeks I was off in the summer, I hadn't felt so good in ages (post heart stent).
Recently though, I have had trouble, so I started to do some research, and again came up with Vitamin D deficiency. My cousin also came up with the same result. I won't go into detail, to avoid having to do a disclaimer !
Anyway, during my diabetes bloods, I asked if they could ask for a vitamin D test.
My result was 22.7 ! In the following article, the lowest was 24.4, and is described as worrying low :ouch1:.
One of my doctors moaned at me once for using Google, but I will continue to if needed.
They have now given me a prescription (4 tablets a day)

I am assuming that the same scale has been used for my reading as its a uk article.

Blimey, good job you did do a Google Geezer :phew:

I've been taking vitamins with the full dose of vitamin D in, found that I was feeling down once the clocks changed, it's made a difference, instead of being down about the dark i'm now merely completely fed up with it.

NG sorry to hear you have the same problem as I have. I have been on supplements for the last few months under my Dr's as my level was 39.I am on 1,000 IU (International Units) 3x times a day.If you find the thread about SAD on here you will see that this defiencey has been talked about on that thread.I can't say that I feel any better for being on the supplements but will keep o n with them for the time being.I am annoyed though that this defiencey can be a precursor to type 2 Diabetes:hate-shocked:

From what my nurse told me anyone below 20 is severely deficient,so no wonder you are having health problems ie,Diabetes and Cardiovascular and I do hope you start to feel better soon:smile:

Zigs,I read on the net that if you take too much of the VitaminD suppliment if you don't need it,you can do damage to your body (kidneys I think) but as I don't have any medical training can't really advise you

A health advisor that used to come round just after CL1.2 was born advised us all to take vitamin D supplements. Apparently there is some study that shows that north of Birmingham, we simply don't get enough sunshine to manufacture all we need, unless we work topless outdoors all the time. Trouble is, up north, it can get a bit too chilly to work topless outdoors, especially if, like me, your job is fairly sedentary. I think I'd get funny looks if I was sat cross legged in the park using a laptop all day with no top on.

Yeh this is true too much is bad for you

The doctor reduced my vit d tablets because my level went from 15 to 100 on them. Obviously he was pleased it wasn't 15 anymore but 100 is far too high apparently

I had to push the doc to be tested myself. I thought being stuck on the sofa for sixth months and on the contraceptive injection my bones may be struggling. The gp kept saying your vit d levels will be fine. Obviously they werent lol

His basis was that i wasn't black or asian and had very white skin so would be fine lol

This is true Clueless.....my levels of vitamin D have been suspect in the past and whilst discussing this with my GP some while ago, he said he was actually making a study of this with a view to writing a book on the subject.

Well one of my doctors failed to diagnose my gall stones. I suffered a long time because of that (2 years I think). When another doctor said it was in my head, I wasn't amused and asked to be referred to a private medical company after doing my own research on Google. She had suggested a psychiatrist , and then started going on about phantom limb syndrome! :th scifD36:
It cost me over £200, but was worth every penny. They said it was classic symptoms of gallstones, and my doctor should have known.
                        I am on 3200 UI @Kandy . Dr.Google is our friend @Adendoll :) :blue thumb:
Can you remember what dose you were on @Dips ??

Spent most of my childhood in bed because a string of doctors failed to diagnose cat and dog allergy

I was constantly given antibiotics and opium based cough medicin, taken for xrays and all sorts of tests.

Once spent a whole year in bed because I couldn't breathe enough to get the energy to walk.

                            Do I trust doctors?

                            No :paladin:

@NorthantsGeezer cant remember exactly but i think it was two of the chalky tablets a day

And i had the opposite problem to you re the gallstones

I was suffering extreme stomach and lower back pain several weeks after having a stomach bug. And my stool had turned white so had phoned the nhs help line

Finally got through to the doctor who at 1am told me i needed to get to a hospital immediately as i had gallstones and would need an operation that night

Got to the hosp in a slight panic and it was just severe dehydration cause i had eaten protein too soon lol

Doctors make me laugh at times they can either be super dismissive or super on it

When i got my tonsilitus and couldnt walk, had extreme fatigue and the most horrendous headache. I was tested for glandular fever first and then HIV. Both negative so they jumped straight to brain tumour

After that came back negative i had to fight for more tests and the one day i was crying in the gps office because at that point i had stopped sleeping all the time and got the point where you cant sleep ever and i had the four types of headache i now get all at once and was in so much pain and didn't understand why. he went i think you may be depressed and gave me a questionnaire.

Filled out the thing for him and he was like oh your not depressed then *rolls eyes*

Found out recently that questionnaire not only determines if your depressed or not but also how much medication you should be on just based on those few answers. Which seems madness to me
