I couldn't resist showing off a Brugmansia flowering in December so I took this before going to work this morning................

A bit cheaty really as it is B.sanguinea which is one of the cool group of Brugs.

Signalling in Christmas is always my Poinsettia, which is about 4 meters tall but is cut back to one meter after blooming (around March) ...

That's lovely noisette .,. the Camellia that is, but also the memory of your father. My friend's husband is under a lemon tree in their garden in Spain.
 He liked his lemons for his drinkies so it was a fitting shrub to plant him under.

Thanks, Victoria. In fact, Dad didn't want to move to France, yet he made it over here before we did, unknowingly. There are days when I sincerely wish that my mother was down there with him:sad::gaah:
Your Poinsettia is amazing! What a difference a few hundred kilometres makes, eh?:)

                              Hiya Clive

No, I have never seen pink or white planted out ... and to be honest, you rarely see the red in gardens ... I can think of perhaps a half dozen Portuguese homes! When I bought it oh some 12 years ago was it?, I was asked if I wanted 'um para casa or um para rua?', ie, one for the house or one for the road as, according to the Portuguese they are different species and you are lucky if you could ever grow one that was intended as a house plant. Obviously, mine is a 'rua' species.
                              :hapfeet:

I did however buy one of the hybrids five years ago because it looked unique , but it didn't survive the winter ...

                              Poinsettia Hybrid 20 Dec 09.JPG

PS Clive, that's one of the Jacarandas it's climbing into and Charlie the Brug it's towering over ... which himself is more than two meters tall now ... :heehee:
