Garden shed base advice needed

Hi

I'm planning on getting a 12x8 shed soon and was thinking of having slab base.

What I would like to find out is the what type of timber bearers to use? I've attached a picture of of a shed on some bearers can anyone tell me what material they are?

Would 2x2 be good or any other dimension?

Whoever is supplying your shed would normally be able to supply you with the appropriate bearers, I think they are usually a bit bigger than 2x2, probably at least 3x2 I think they are just treated softwood.

 

They look like 4x4 fenceposts to me...not cheap.Personally I'd go for housebricks.....no rot.

 

Would he need this with a slab base?

 

I'm sure it would be fine if they're laid on a good compacted surface

My shed and Summerhouse are stood on plastic bases that are infilled with gravel,(there's a proper name for it but I've forgotten)great stuff and makes light work out doing bases
