Hi guys, wanted to share my outdoor containers collection. After a lot of trial and error with substrate, fish an plants, finally I seem to have found relatively a good balance in them.

    Container #1: female betta tub
Size: 1.5' radius and 2' depth.
    Substrate: garden soil.
Other hardware: one brick, I use stones, bricks because at the time of water change, direct impact of water will disturb the substrate.
Plants: large echinodorous x 3, Cryptocoryne Spiralis x 1, ludwigia sedoides x 2, Cryptocoryne wendtii (not seen in the pic): 6, a huge bunch of najas indica and few lilies, one bunch of ludwigia ovalis.
    Inhabitants: 4 female HMPK betta
Wc: once a week, top up: often.

    Here's a pic:

I plan to add rocks and pebbles around the containers to give it a little natural feel and fill the crevices with garden soil, in the hope of growing some plants. Will keep updating this thread.

    Cheers,

    Karthik

Interesting set up Karthik, as you probably know, here we can only keep Bettas and most other 'tropicals' in heated aquaria. Are you going to breed Half Moon PKs?

Thanks. Yes, I've bred them before. Although the adult betta are pretty tolerant to the Bangalore winter, I breed them only during the summers. :) the fry might not tolerate the low temperatures (not as low as what you guys face) and I don't want to take a chance.

        Cheers,

        Karthik

A Bangalore winter is probably warmer than a UK summer.
