Thank you, @moyra - update to son's panic is: he completed the essay by midnight last night and his presentation work by teatime today - that gives him this evening and the morning to go back over both and give them a tweak :phew:

So sorry to hear just how unwell (and now, sleep deprived too) you are. :grphg:

I have no personal experience of those times, but certainly my mother did. In fact, my paternal Grandmother (sadly died before I came along) was the person in the street others would call on for her knowledge in times of illness/births/deaths. Oh how I wish I'd met her!

Healing vibes being sent to those who need them :grphg:

Today was my manic shopping day - all day, trudging from place to place - YUK! But, it's all done bar the wrapping now :yay:
And, as a bonus - while I was out doing battle with the stores, Mr "M" finally cleared the basement porch (which has been a temporary dump shed since we arrived here). Most has been taken to the loft until such time as it is either needed, or we get a shed so everything can be rehomed properly ;) Just means I've had to add two more new outside doors to the "need new back door" list: so, three new doors now required. All three function perfectly ... from the inside only :roflol:

      Good morning everyone,

      Moyra...Hope you've had a better night:dbgrtmb:

Hope everyone else is ticking over nicely too this morning:dbgrtmb:

I must have washed the floor in the conservatory a dozen times but there's still white foot prints all over the house from plaster dust so I've given up and am now pretending that it's Father Christmas doing a recce to check out where he's going to put all my prezzies:snork: He must have been playing with the electrics too because the cooker is flashing and the microwave:rolleyespink:...

      Quick cuppa then Hi Ho:whistle:

Take it easy everyone, have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

Morning all. Got the day off work today, had an odd annual leave day left, so thought I'd give myself a break after a heavy day shrub planting at work yesterday. :phew:

Hope you are all well and those of you who aren't quite on top of your game feel better soon.

Nothing much planned for today, just a little housework and general pottering about. Take care all. :)

          Aloha everyone,

I hope that all of you that are under the weather are feeling better today. :grphg:

One of our aloe vera plants is gradually fulfilling its destiny as Mrs Shiney is now treating my foot with direct applications of its innards :heehee: - which seems to be working. Fortunately this plant is very large but she also has a stock of plants :).

Our party at the bridge club went well last night :blue thumb: It was even better that I won first prize (£4 :rolleyespink: :snork:) and won first prize in the free raffle we have (a lovely cuddly toy :)). Friday night is another bridge club party and a third for the Tuesday afternoon club.

today I shall need to go out but mustn't do too much walking whilst my foot is trying to heal over. I shall be doing a tour of hairdressing salons to visit some of my ex senior staff :grphg: (I'll limit to eight), have to go to the library, take my car to the tyre place as I have a slow puncture (it's a privately run business just down the road by the station) and do shopping for food for the weekend (got to work out a menu for our guests).

Trunky, make the most of your day off. :dbgrtmb:

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

                  Good morning everyone,

It's dark out there but there's a lovely crescent moon:blue thumb:

Yesterday morning when I thought Father Christmas had been playing with the electrics it turns out it wasn't him it was something to do with the national grid:doh: I'd got electricity back here but just round the corner it was off right until lunch time:doh: that meant my work place too.I thought it was quiet when there wasn't anyone around, usually the place is swarming with children going to school but it had been closed. When I got to work it was in complete darkness:rolleyespink:.We got all the residents up and wrapped them in blankets(no heating) then went begging at the local leisure centre with flasks for some hot water so they could have warm drinks,it was a little chaotic at first but I think we all coped really well.It just shows how much we rely on electricity though. It got easier as it got lighter as a lot of the residents were a little upset and unsettled but a good old sing song put us right:dbgrtmb: ..Oooo another bonus, everyone had Fish and chips for lunch from the chippy and they really enjoyed it:dbgrtmb: I'll never understand why a place like that doesn't have a back up generator though:doh:

Last lap today then the weekend off:yahoo:...

Have a great day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

                    Good morning all,

Loli, you would think they would have a back up generator wouldn't you. Something they will have to consider if this the way of things with power cuts.
Have a good day all, stay safe and well. Good bless.:wub2:

                        Aloha everyone,

Woo, is Christmas coming? :)

Loli, I suppose it turned out for the best. :blue thumb: The residents had a break in routine and they had fish and chips :yahoo:. I wonder whether it might be good to have the fish and chips as a treat for them every so often. Having a backup generator can be a bit complicated. Apart from the cost, the generator would need to be outside of the building and then connected to it, (them 'Elfs again ) there would need to be a safe storage area for the fuel.

Our local home asked the village hall if it would be their emergency venue if there were any problems at the home. It took a lot of explaining that it wasn't possible. If the hall had already been booked, and occupied, it would be impossible to turf an event out - and a breach of contract. If it wasn't booked, then it would be locked up and as it's run by volunteers a keyholder may not be found at the right time (I might have gone shopping :)). It needs a much more stable venue than that. I suggested that, if it was a suitable time of day, the doctors' surgery waiting room might be better. :dbgrtmb:

We had a very windy night but it has calmed down a bit now. At 5.30 a.m. I thought I was getting hot flushes but, after checking, the heating thermostat must have been knocked and the temperature in the lounge was 78F :hate-shocked:.

I'll start prepping food for the weekend visitors soon. It's always easier if some of the work is done. :)

                        Have a great day

                        Aloha!
