As I've got a bit of an extended holiday over Christmas I was thinking of giving Kew another visit, that was until I looked at the website.

It appears they are doing their best to put people off, going on about pretty poor parking, etc.
God knows how the disabled manage it?
The cost of entry is gynormous, (the first time I went it was 10p).

And the palm house is closed 5th 6th and 7th of Jan for maintenance, what bright spark worked that timetable out?

The Temperate house is closed until 2018.

I could manage £9.50, but I see the price reverts to £15 after Jan.
Add to that the cost of getting there.

Is the place seriously worth the hassle with all the interesting bits shut?

OH yes, and I've just noticed that the concessions ticket in Feb is £14 that is a massive saving of one whole pound on the normal entry fee, WOW.

Pete . there is a parking on the Brendford gate , but you must go early as the parking get full very quick , it will cost you around 6/7 pound for all day , the get a cheap tickets you must go as a group , but overall still cost you around £10 , the temperate greenhouse it`s my favorite , but hard to see all in a Day , at the moment they have the Christmas light on at the palm house and it`s all sold out , you can still visit the pagota that `I`ve never managed to see in a day , overall you must be carefull in picking a day , if it`s windy the will close the greenhouse as can it be too dangerous , even if it look like it`s an extorsion , it worth visiting ..... the prince charles greenhouse it`s amazing , the variety of cold tolerante plants outside are neverending , and on the other side they are loosing lots of money and may will make reduntand many worker

Sal, I've been a few times before and usually parked in the road outside the Victoria gate, after 10am.
No way would I pay £6 parking and £15 to get in, I could go as a group,... of one I guess.:snork:

What greenhouse are they closing if its too windy? and why?

I can see why they are losing money.

Pete that was long long ,.....long time ago , now is all residential parking only and always impossible to find a parking anyway ;) ....
I tell you what you are right the best group is the group of 1 ... that never fail

I would go more often if I could , but usually cost me minimum £50 , petrol parking and ticket ... will have to go back in Spring for collecting few plants ;)

              OK Sal, thanks.
So its not too bad at the other gate?

Not sure I will bother going just yet though.

If you cant park without loads of hassle they might as well call in the bull dozers and build houses, because no where makes money these days without proper parking.

ps out of curiosity , I didn`t want to drive there so I went to the train station and ask how much would have cost me the train ticket as I had the appointment with the group at 9am , was in the rush hours , the train tickets was £75 ........ I told the sale assistant that I needed just a ride and didn`t want to buy the train , we are talking of 50 miles at the most ....and peoples are still banging that we should use the public transport .... was really hard ...£75 for the train or £20 +7 parking

Bearing in mind that with public transport you get wet, you get pushed around, you get sneezed on, you wait for a cancelled train or bus, you can only come and go when they say and you have to carry all your stuff all the time, I prefer a traffic jam in a warm car any day.

Plus of course as you say, they take the proverbial P, regarding price.
