I have a cheese plant in our living room. Its doing well. I also have lots of spider plants around the house, because the one I bought keeps producing lots of babies.

There is bare compost in the cheese plant container. Can I fill that space with a spider plant or two? I.e. will the two plants happily share the same resources? I'm thinking that the cheese plant is ok with low light levels but the spider plants like it a bit brighter, but then I'm also thinking that spider plants are as tough as old boots and will survive just about anywhere.

    What do we reckon?

I always found spider plants like shade, cheese plants can adapt to full sun, but will grow with reasonable light.
I'm always wary about putting more than one plant in a pot, other than summer bedding.

Anyway, spider plants look best when grown with elevation, so they can hang down.

I think I'd cover the bare compost with pebbles or similar.

Been trying to find a cheese plant, not many about these days.

I would do, but CL1.2 would just eat them.

Wilkinsons had them in a few months ago. That's where I got mine from.

I used to find that spider plants have got huge root systems, I would pot them on their own.

You know those 99p for 8 buckets from Morrisons Sheal? The cheese plant is in one of those. I'd hazard a guess that its about a gallon and a half.

EDIT: Forgot to say, I didn't what paddlestones were, so I looked them up. They look like cobbles you get down the beach. Nice idea :dbgrtmb:

I've got a rough idea of the buckets......no Morrisons here!

Not the best of pictures but these are paddle stones, flat and disc like.

Its a lovely picture. Gorse is so underrated. Its gorgeous and fragrant too, and the green and bright yellow contrasts really well with the grey stones. But I know what you meant.

We get gazillions of such flat stones down the beach.

Just a word of warning, it's illegal to remove anything other than litter from beaches and rivers, well it is here. :)

Its the same here. I got stuck in the beach once because I saw some coppers up on the promenade when I wanted to come off. I had to wait ages for them to go so that they wouldn't see me removing myself from there :heehee:

Jests aside, you're right. I wasn't saying that I might get half a dozen small stones off the beach, instead of buying some that have been dredged from the sea bed by a large oil guzzling ship, transported by diesel guzzling lorry to the shop, then transported home in a gas guzzling Gothilda. I was merely sharing an observation that there or loads of such stones down the beach:whistle:

Yes, I realise you were sharing that observation and you really don't want to get caught out, do you? :)

I knew I had some better pictures of those stones somewhere, unfortunately I'd deleted them from my own computer, but found them here on post #1522 after a bit of a search. They look very much like the ones on the other picture I posted, don't they?
