Ok, all us adults know it's actually the International Space Station, but children will be non the wiser :)

The weather forecast is for a crisp clear evening so there's a very good chance of seeing it from most parts of the UK.

Thanks for the info. NASA's site is currently broken for me so I can't get the local times and vector, but I guess I'll just take us all up to high ground in time for about 10 minutes before London time and look south west.

I saw him :) I think he had his main beam on. Very bright, and very clear. Pretty fast too :)

Blimey, he was very bright and clear - what a lovely crisp evening. I hope he stops off for some sherry and a mince pie later :)

Just been out and watched him go over here too. Lovely clear skies tonight, I saw a couple of other satellites while I was out there, both heading roughly south to north.

A lovely crescent moon out tonight too, you can clearly see the 'earthshine' reflecting from the unlit part of the moon too. :)

We saw him too. Not as bright this year as last year, but still clear enough. CL1.1 claimed he could just about make out the reindeers.

Good view here too. Also could see Mars as a red speck close to the moon.
May be better tomorrow as elevation will be greater. Rises (here) @ 16:29 UTC, max elevation of 28 degrees @ 16:32, sets @ 16:35.

If you can access the 'Heavens-Above' web site (it's slow at present due to heavy load) you can get accurate data for your specific location as well as a sky map showing the ISS transit.
