Anyone who dresses up in funny clothes in order to ride a horse has got to have a problem.

To race around the countryside with a pack of half wild dogs while doing so, only goes to prove the point.

[IMG] Please don't turn this thread into an Anti-Hunting thread.. Jenny posted some photos of an enjoyable morning she had..!!!!

Since February 2005 Fox hunting has been banned, now it is mainly trail hunts, where a scent is laid then the hunt starts..
A rider sets off very early dragging the scent item..
Then later the hounds pick up the scent and off they go..!

It is still an amazing sight to see and without the cruelty.. Hunting is part of the historic culture of ours since the 1600s..

They are lovely photos Jenny and it is part of our history.. Now it is done without hunting a real fox.. My experiences with the hounds is that they are all very friendly when around people.. I just didn't want your thread to turn into an "Anti" thread..

Fabulous photo's Jenny - you really have caught the atmosphere of the day really well there!
and that really comes across in your photo's.

Ouchie!!! :yikes: Poor sheep!! That must be both psychologically and physically distressing for them

But, the question begs to be asked: did the owner of the sheep/land not know about the planned hunt (and then consider the sheep's welfare by moving them to the other field) beforehand? I really did assume that land owners communicated (somehow) with one another? :noidea: Clearly the owner of the sheep would have preferred moving them as opposed to their being scared so much that they pushed through a barbed wire fence to escape those sounds/threats? :noidea:

Or, is this a consequence of the ban? :dunno:

I'm thinking (and I may be wrong) that before the ban, any planned fox hunt would have been announced (route disclosed) and for the very reasons you address (other live stock) ? But, if there no longer exists a traditional "fox" hunt (just a trail hunt) maybe the pre-published "hunt" is no longer required? I'm just thinking as I read here, because I haven't researched it (and, it's too late tonight to get my head into that quarter).

I'm also thinking: there has to be a way that trail hunts and sheep farming can co-exist without causing undue distress/injury to either party. And, if that hasn't been the case, then there must be something which could be done to address this? :dunno:

                      What "fight"???? :dunno:
A polite discussion, perhaps? No insults, no gauntlets, no animosity.
All I see is: selective posts have been moved and it now reads out of context!
Now; it just looks silly - most especially when the OP has "Liked" at least two of the above posts!

.........as far as I know, "M", post have not been moved.:dunno::doh: I think if people can see past the Hunting issues then Jenny has made some great pics and was trying to show how none lethal hunts look and how the local community gets involved in it. So as Jenny has made the effort to post what I think is a very interesting thread and insight to what happens at Battle I think we should respect that and enjoy the thread as it was meant to be.:dunno::coffee:
