I'm not familiar with the original but I am enjoying this. Miranda Richardson who is a favourite of mine has been completely outshone by Anna Chancelor (who is not seen enough on TV in my opinion). Pippa Haywood has been good too.

However, the best thing on the box over Christmas by a mile was the BBC film Marvellous............

Good only because it bought an end to this painful show! My other half loves it though :dunno:

That was certainly a return to form. I have always liked the way that it is filmed live.

Agreed, Miranda Richardson is usually excellent, but her Mapp not good.

Do, do, do put the original on your birthday wishlist. GG Top Recommendation!

Sorry to go off topic, but you've brought back memories of Taibach - spent many a night at the Rugby Club (boyfriend played for them) in my early twenties. Good times.

I agree that Miranda Richardson's interpretation of the part is extremely poor. I find her facial contortions and peculiar voices most irritating. Whereas Anna Chancelor is excellent in her role.

The dinner party last night that was held at the home of the local lady was, I think, held at this house.
