Complete garden is a blank canvas, Practically all the trees you can see are likely to be coming down in the next week or so, having the broken fence repaired next week so have time to start planning what goes where.

pic 2 is behind the garage (on the left hand side of pic one, not visible) & I'm stumped what to do there, whole garden is north facing & that corner gets no sun as is..that's the brightest we get all day!
So putting it out there, what (child/wildlife friendly) things would you suggest doing with it? Thanks in advance!

Wild garlic? Bluebells? Snowdrops? None of which will provide year round interest like ferns or hostas, but I like wild garlic. Its underrated. You'd probably get away with wild strawberries too, which are about a gazillion times nicer than the cultivated kind, just tiny and full of seeds.

Acuba are good for a bit of evergreen structure ,can get large but easily kept in check. There are a few varieties to go for and most do well in shade:dbgrtmb: also Hydrangea Petiolaris is a good climber for shade but does take a while to get settled in:dbgrtmb:

Stumpery with lots of ferns :-)

It would make use of the trees you are taking down

I agree with the others ferns and you can always add a splash of colour with hosta or two.

here my fern corner , and believe me it was a dank old corner

that corner of mine is both very shaded and damp , plus all the autumn leaves get thrown into that comer as well.

Its nice growing in the wild but I wouldn't want it in my garden though, but saying that I did plant a couple in the green in my mums old house and they took forever to establish and stayed just as a clump. We had whole woodlands covered with them in the spring where I lived as a kid , we used to come back home stinking !!!
