Thank you @Lolimac , and thank you for your support. I will have a look sometime, and maybe add my favourite (properly edited, in focus) photo of her. I know the one I posted isn't great, but it displays her cheeky side. I like the way her little paws hang over the edge, and she is waiting for me to sit beside her :).

My heart goes out to you! I know exactly how you feel and you have my deepest sympathies. They are family in the end and we grieve them when they pass. Cry your tears and then remember the happy times spent together.:grphg:

NG, the RCVS is the official body you would put any complaints in to. But take it to your own vet first and see what they say before you go down that route. If you want any help give us a shout as I worked with the RCVS in a previous life.

Thank you so much for offering to help. I will see my own vet on Monday, because I like to get my facts right before doing anything. I am sure that if a human was having a fit in an A&E waiting area, they would take action swiftly. Why do people think animals don't deserve that level of care too. I should have been insistant that she saw someone though, instead of just keep telling them. I just put her wellbeing totally in their hands (wrongly).

            Dont blame yourself.

My last dog waited for nearly 24 hours, in cage at the vets before they put her under to do tests, and ring me to say its best she is put down.

My Mother Had a mini stroke in the GPs surgery and all they did for her was offer her the use of a wheelchair in order for me to get her into the car.

Not got much faith in medical people I'm afraid, but Vets are usually better than most.

Also did you have insurance, makes one hell of a difference to how you get treated, but not always sure that treatment is best for the animal, often just more lucrative for the Vets practice.

Sorry to hear about the way they were treated too @pete
She had insurance, but they were not aware of that at the emergency vets, until I paid. My regular vet knows though. He suggested a couple of years ago, that I reduce her insurance to standard, because she was reaching an age where if anything serious was to happen, then she would be unlikely to recover (surgery etc).
Personally, I would never have insurance again for a house cat. I would rather just religiously bank it every month, in case she needed it at any time. The insurance company has had thousands from me for my two, and I have rarely had to claim.
When I reduced the cover to standard (vets advice), the girl accused me of looking after my wealth over the health of my cats! She got in trouble for that, and I got a £60 cheque in the post to say sorry.

Ok, I didn't realise the emergency vets practice was not your usual one.
When ever I went to the Vets it was there right at the top of the computer page, "insured".

I'm so so sorry for your loss NG, we all know we will lose our beloved pets eventually, all we ask for is that their passing is peaceful. I'm so sorry that's not quite what happened, and hopefully the vet involved will learn from this.

It's times like this I truly appreciate the fantastic practice I have on my doorstep.

                    Big hugs to you xxx
