WOO so sorry you are suffering with the tinnitus. I have experienced it and to put up with it like you do would send me crazy. My ears are bad enough with my sinuses as it is. Do hope you can get something for it.

Just crawled out of my sick armchair (don't use a bed :heehee:). In-between bouts of fever I seem to be improving :blue thumb:

Woo, my tinnitus is mainly set off (it's always there in the background) by the type of electronic hiss that machines give off. So, for example, when I use my computer I have to have music playing to mask the hiss. Other regular type sounds upset me as well. Things such as clocks ticking.

The most annoying sound I've been getting lately is from my weather centre. It has its time and date checked by radio signal. The last few days it has been having trouble holding the signal and keeps searching for it. I can hear the click of it trying to find the signal! Mrs Shiney can only hear it when she puts her ear within a foot of the centre. Whereas I can hear it from 20ft away. So we've had to move it to another room. I'm hoping it's just a problem due to atmospherics.

Good evening Shiney my friend I really hope that you are on the mend:smile::grphg:
My hearing like yours is excellent but that can have its drawbacks sometimes;) especially when I go to a disco or the dawn chorus:heehee:

Hello everyone, pleased to say I managed to get a new prescription for the linctus and the ventolin so fingers crossed things will start to improve again. I must admit I notice sounds that annoy me. Clonk, clonk, clonk of darts on a board that I bought him for Christmas and he seems to be wearing out already! Sometimes there is a noise from the fan on the computer annoys me but generally I can ignore them to a degree. I wish you both better. God bless. :wub2:

Woo, I have considerable problems with noise and not just from tinnitus. My hearing is so sensitive that I can't go to discos. When we're at weddings I leave after the reception, when the music starts, and sit in the car and read a book. No one gets offended because they know my problem.

Mrs Shiney is used to me, when we're at home, getting up and wandering off around the house because I can hear a noise that's out of place. Once it was a mouse that had set up home in a slightly open drawer in her workroom - 30ft away with two closed doors in between!

Another time it was during a thunderstorm, we had the TV on and I told her I could hear something out of place. So I wandered around and eventually traced it to a leaking roof tile. There was one drop of rain seeping through every five seconds and dropping onto 6" of fibreglass insulation in the loft.

The funniest one involved the neighbours as well. It was mid-morning and I told her I could hear a high pitched whistling noise. I did my usual wander around and worked out that it was coming from outside. So I started wandering around the front garden listening. The neighbours were out there and asked me what I was doing and when I told them they looked at me as though I was mad! I eventually traced it to be coming out of the ground up near the road - which is 100ft from the house. They came over and could hear it when they got within 10ft of it. We never did work out what caused it but it went on for 20 minutes and then stopped suddenly. By then we had five neighbours listening to it. :noidea:

Can you still hear Bats Shiney? I lost that part of my hearing sometime since 2003, didn't notice it going

So you're no longer going bats! :heehee:

Yes, I can still hear them, but not as well as I used to. When we originally had our alarm system installed the inside sensors were a combination of Passive Infrared and Ultrasonic. To avoid false alarms they checked with each other all the time. A very good system but I had to call them back almost immediately as I could hear the ultrasonic signal. They said it was unusual but not unheard of for people to be affected by the signal but they were able to adjust it for us. Apparently they have to do the adjustments frequently if there are dogs in the household.

My hearing is definitely not as sensitive as it used to be but I still have problems listening to conversations in a crowd. I'm useless at parties

                Aloha everyone,

I feel as though I'm improving :blue thumb:. Still having bouts of fever but not getting the shakes so much. Only a little bit wobbly when walking around :old:. I'll see whether I can get through a little porridge and a couple of boiled eggs this morning. I've lost over half a stone in weight!

I shan't be going to bridge this afternoon but am determined to get there tomorrow evening.

                Keep well

                Aloha!

                  Good morning all,

Shiney you do suffer badly with your ears, glad mine are not like that. Also hope your chestiness improves enough for you to go to bridge tomorrow night.

I am back on my medication but no improvement so far this morning, early days yet.
Have a good day. stay safe, dry and warm and above all get well and stay well everyone.
                  God Bless:wub2:

                    Thanks, Moyra :grphg:

It's not too bad as you adjust to it, but having bad tinnitus like Woo does is not possible to adjust to.

Woo, I hope it's better this morning. :grphg:
