I bought some cheap primroses and daffodils to plonk in the front window boxes until about March time. The bulbs came above the soil... I might replant them a little deeper tomorrow.

    Here's a badly lit photo

I wouldn't move the daffodils now Jack, they may die back having their roots disturbed, leave it until later when they have finished. :)

Bought myself a nice present at the weekend, I'm getting itchy Green fingers. I always wanted one and as Urban Jungle Norwich had 30% off Palms, I couldn't resist. This was intended to be planted in the border, but it looks better on the patio so will need to buy a nice big pot.

Please excuse the mess in the background. I am attempting to level off my lawn by building a retaining wall which I will fill with top soil and then turf.

Also, there was 50% off seeds, I have never grown Cosmos or Knautia from seed before.

Both Cosmos and Knautia are pretty easy from seed NCF. :)

With the exception of the Echinacea and the toms these are the annuals I'm growing this year. The Antirrhinum's are doubles and the Cosmos are semi-double. I'll also be growing Heuchera from seed and other perennials.

The toms are 'Sungold' and 'Gourmet' and the Sungold I'm trying on various members recommendation because I couldn't get 'Golden Pearl' this year. Gourmet I know absolutely nothing about, so I'll see how they go.

@Ian Taylor - re the Hymenocallis bulbs, I doubt that they're near flowering size yet. Maybe one or two years more. Flowering sized bulbs are 7cm at a push, 8 to 10cm realistically.

                          Good choice :blue thumb:

Try and make sure you site them close to where you walk in the winter time. :) We have a number of Sarcococca and they're coming into full flower this time of year. A fantastic scent from a tiny flower. They're quite tough and can grow big, if you let them.

                          P1220250.JPG

                          P1220252.JPG

The Witch Hazel is only just trying to come into flower. Another lovely winter scent but not as strong as Sarcococca. Give each one a bit of room. They don't grow bushy but they grow in an open manner with the side branches growing in a horizontal style.
