Another new season is upon us! I know we do not stop and start and have crops growing year round, but I always consider getting seed potatoes as the start of a new season.

A friend and I went up to JBA last week to pick up half a dozen sacks for a few of us at the allotment, it's much much cheaper to pick them up than have them delivered and as they are within spitting distance of us, it made sense to do so.

I have never seen so many potatoes in one place before, or so many varieties either. Chances are wherever you get your seed spuds from, they originated at JBA.

    Steve...:)

Apart from tidying up the garden, mostly done now, it's a matter of prepping the soil where possible and doing what we can in maintenance of the veggie areas. Only other work we've done is growing new chilli plants whilst keeping the old ones going. Both successful at the moment. :blue thumb:

The Shiney Hybrids germinate very easily. :blue thumb: I suggest you do some more in a few weeks just in case something happens to damp them off. It gives a good backup and you can never have enough. They don't take up a lot of room.

Nagas always take longer to germinate. I'm hoping seeds from the plant you gave me will germinate well. They were a superb variety and the Asian wholesaler near us wants us to produce plants for him to sell to the local community - for our charity. :dbgrtmb:

I started all our Chilli's deliberately super late last year to stop them going too leggy. Didn't sow til April and worked out just fine so plan on doing the same this year. Although also plan to try some outside on the allotment as well as the window sills this time - under a micro-tunnel/row cover. See how that pans out.
