You are forgiven :heehee: I hope the extra trickles down to the animal, as a consumer, there is little more we can do, but try and support the more "ethical" suppliers?

Yes definitely.. I think paying so little for milk is awful. I heard the other day that milk is cheaper than bottled water. Sorry I think that's ridiculous. I too like to stop at the various farmers houses and buy our eggs free range. Chatting to the farmers and their wives makes an event out of buying eggs. I like that !

I'm prepared to pay more for milk, I assume all dairy products are included in that.
I also think the supermarkets need sorting out regarding how they treat all their suppliers.
Tesco and the other big ones are on the slide, interestingly to the price cut ones like Aldi etc.

Just wonder what THEY do to their suppliers in order to undercut the big boys, and are likely to do, should they get the upper hand.

I whole heartedly agree, Yvonne, but my working experience tells me that it's more likely that the Superstores have kept onto the premium either in whole or partly as they are not interested in "ethics", only profit and share holders.:dunno:

Pete, I think ( but don't quote me!) that Aldi etc keep their costs down by offering less range in products. I have no idea how they treat their farmers, I would LOVE to know though!

Is it just the supermarkets selling a pint of milk - what about all the other produce made from milk? Do the manufacturers of butter, cheese, cream, ice cream, yogurt and anything that includes milk/dried milk/milk powder etc in the ingredients also hold the farmers to ransom? Genuine question, I know the supermarkets do squeeze the life out of suppliers but wondered if the manufacturing industry were just as bad.

I can't stand milk or most dairy products apart from cheese but do buy it for other people to have in their tea and use it occasionally for cooking. But I would pay more if it guaranteed dairy cattle a better standard of life. Not convinced it would though.

I live opposite a dairy farm, the farmer & his son are friends of ours. There's also 2 other dairy farms in and around our village. I'm all for helping them as I would hate to see these disappear. It's easy to buy 4 pints for £1 at a supermarket but I buy local milk, pay maybe twice as much for it but in the grand scheme of things I think it's better
