Leave sooooo much to be desired when it comes to coherent conversations! :heehee:

An example text string between #1 Son and his father earlier this evening:-

#1 Son to Dad: Tried calling, on way to Chinese
(Time delay because of network issues)
#1 Son to Dad: Great news: Chinese = 2:1 - really happy!
Dad to #1 Son: Cor, 2 for price of 1? Bargain! Enjoy your meal

Half hour later, landline rings, *I* answer ...
    Ring, ring!
    M - hello?
#1 Son: Hi ... is Dad ok? :th scifD36:
M - he's in the bath, but fine. Why?
#1 Son: just had some weird texts from him  :noidea:
    M - Oh? What's up.
(he explains text sequence) :rolleyespink: :rolleyespink: :rolleyespink:

M -> son: try typing "Mandarin Class" next time; I'll explain 2:1 is a mark and not a price promotion!;)
    :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:

What are your corkers when it comes to text messages/crossed wires?

I use my phone very little so no real issues with texting. What I hate though is predictive text (I won't use it) it takes me an age to work out what the person is trying to say, it would be quicker to ring them to find out!

@Sheal - you need to check your settings on your phone ... you should be able to turn off/disable predictive text :)

It is on my phone but I don't think you can turn off somebody else's when they send to you. :)

          Dinosaur, here :old:

I don't have trouble with predictive text because my phone can't do it. Also, I don't get any texts because I don't turn my phone on (bit of an exaggeration).

I occasionally receive emails that have used 'text speak' (between Mrs Shiney and I, we receive about 150 emails per day) and delete them without reading them. If someone wants to communicate with me they either send an email in proper English or phone me!

          Signed,
          Grumpy old curmudgeon.

Good morning I had a state of the art mobile phone for 3 years but decided that it was an invasion on my privacy and disposed of it;) just my own personal view of course:smile:

I don't have any bother with texting as I rarely use my phone,it's turned off more than it's on.

I am allowed 5000 free texts on my contract , I use about 5 a month ! Most of my texts are no longer than 5 words which probably takes my tree stump fingers 5 minutes . If I text my son in law , I can get a 3 page reply in 2 minutes !

I like my smartphone, I don't send many texts but at least I can send them in english, it learns what I usually write so it more or less composes my texts for me. Mostly they are about the important things in life, like what time I'm getting home for dinner.

For my job I love the text message system. It is a way I can tell a staff person something to do, and follow-up with them if there is an issue to show them that it was texted to them on a certain date. And if the staff person tells me something, I have a back up to refresh my memory . Getting to know my new IPAD now, I can verbally talk into a text and it types it nicely quickly. Just got the thing so have a lot to learn about how to use it. Sadly with the change over from the old phone to this new one , all my garden pics are off of it, but did send all to photobucket.
