I have recently bought seed of some New Zealand alpines - Aciphylla & Celmisia

Has anyone ever tried these from seed?
    Do they need stratification first?

I have had a look online.
Some websites say stratify. Others not.

Was wondering if anyone had their own experience.

Sirius I`ve been lucky enough to see them plants in the natural habitat , what i know about the Aciphylla is that need really cold and wet to wake up the seeds , I would try with put the seeds in drain free soil and stones , wet them up and leave the seeds outside , where they can get loads of frost , both plants are coming from the south of NZ where it`s really cold and in winter rains every day

on side ... got to admit that many seeds that i got back from New zealand , have all germinate , but as they are super slow grower , most got eated by the slugs and killed by the uk sunshine , can belive myself , most of the fern have died and so far only got one plant left that seams ok with the cold ... I had myself seeds of Aciphylla , planted in a bag in January and they must have germinate in summer , slugs got them

Right. So I sowed the seeds in a grit/peat mix.
Gave them a good watering. And put them in my garden shed.

Will update when I hopefully get some germination.

Never give up. This Ferraria only took eighteen months to germinate!
