To day I am going to take some a lot of perennial root cuttings, make 12 planting holes round the perimeter of my pond in readiness for planting some grasses and I can't work in the greenhouse because its full up to the gunnel's and I cant get in the door :lunapic 130165696578242 5: and send off for some Magnolia's Grandiflora which do well in Neutral soil;)

Took off the frost protection (fleece bags) on my Tree Ferns, the forecast is for mild weather for the week ahead so I'm letting them have some fresh air and a little sunlight.

My dear Nan passed away yesterday so I have spent a couple hours today clearing a nice sunny corner of my garden that I am going to dedicate to her with some nice flowers (suggestions welcome)

Did she have any favourites? Maybe a nice rose bush surrounded by a mix of salvia, lavender and forget me nots?

I just watched the weather forecast and they say there will be a change by Wednesday and an icy wind will be coming from the Arctic!

I feel like I'm spending most of my time covering my agapanthus plants when I hear it's going to freeze, to uncover them again! I wish it would make its mind up. I'm off to the garden centre today to buy some cheap plants for the alleyway by my house, which we've decided to take over for growing things in and making it a bit more pleasing to the eye.

                Sorry for your loss

I'd go with Eve's suggestions plus some Rosmary for rememberance.

A fine, dry afternoon gave me the opportunity to get a little job done which I've had in mind for months now.

The paved area outside our new summerhouse has a curved edge, which had been cut into an existing herbaceous border when the summerhouse was installed, leaving the bed edge looking 'all wrong' for want of a better phrase.

Like most of us thrifty gardeners, I'm always potting up seedlings and trying to get things going from cuttings and among the various specimens I've produced this way were some small lavender and variegated box.

So, after clearing the edge of the bed, I've planted these in an alternate, staggered row around the curve. I've no idea whether this combination will work, I've not seen it tried before, I guess time will tell if it's a good combination or not.

I'm not doing anything in my garden or plot until the wet, soggy, clayey mess dries out, all my gardening for the next 2 months (sowing, prickong out, pottingbup, etc) will be done on my dining table/kitchen worktops or under lights indoors in the grow box in my spare bedroom or the auxillary staging and growbox (lights temporary relocated from greenhouse) in my daughter's bedroom whilst she's away at uni (shhhh, don't tell her, it will be back in the greenhouse when then heating goes on in there just before she returns for Easter hols).

I rushed out in the sunny break and washed all the dust and bird poo from the garden bench. I was going to bees wax it when it dried but the sun disappeared - so I didn't.
                        Hopefully tomorrow,
                        Jenny
