The Woo needs a new Hoover any recommendations would be greatly appreciated:smile:

It needs to be light to carry, and uncomplicated so that I can just pick it up and switch it on,preferably without 200 tools all over it ,I just want a simple Hoover for a simple Owl:heehee:

      Hi Woo,
Miele's are brilliant as are Henry's!
Don't buy the Dyson ball, my friend has one & she's experiancing problems with her wrists when she's used it.
Happy shopping! I hope your next purchase is more exciting!

Do you want an upright or a cylinder one? If you want a cylinder one then Henry is your definite best choice. I have 2 Henrys wouldn't be without them. I also have a VAX 'Air' which I am pleased with.

I'd recommend a Henry, we've had Dyson's in the past and not lasted long.

Hi Woo, we've recently bought a new one as the old one was getting to be too unwieldy.

Mrs Shiney absolutely loves it. :hapydancsmil:

It's not cheap but works very well and is cordless. It's a Dyson 44 Animal (I guess it's good for picking up dog hair although we don't have a dog). It got a very good report from Which?

It only weighs 2.3kg (battery operated), picks up better than our old Dyson corded machine, has just a few attachments (a reasonable size head and a mini head, plus a couple of little things), clips into a docking station for recharging that I have put on the wall in a cupboard, runs for a good 20 minutes on a single charge and the head can be detached for use on stairs or in the car.

              http://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/dc44/dc44-animal.aspx

Go and have a look at one in a local store. I phoned around our local stores to find one that had it in stock. Whilst talking to them I asked what was the best price they could do it for. Then, when we had decided to buy I asked the store that we liked best whether they could equal the best price we had been offered (they always do). Don't forget to also look on line at prices. A store will always equal a price you find as long as it's not a price from an online store. The best price I've seen on a quick look is £249.99.

This is a very good video of it.

:yes::yes:Hi Woo,do you want the Hoover to hoover the whole house or just pick up the odd crumbs?

One of my friends has a similar Hoover to the above one that Shiney mentions which she uses to hoover up the crumbs the kids drop after eating biscuits etc but she said herself she wouldn't use it to hoover the house.

I have a DC41 ball one which is grey and cobalt in colour and I find it very good for hoovering the house although it is a tad heavy when carrying it around but as you are going to be doing the hoovering for Mrs Woo and you are a strong lad/Owl then this hoover will be ideal for you to use:biggrin:

Don't forget you also get a 5 year guarantee against parts so if you have problems wih needling say a new hose then you just ring the number on the machine and quote either the number that is on the machine (usually behind the drum) or it should be on the instruction pack included, then they will send you out the parts free of charge postage included.

My DC41 had a mishap and I accidently dropped the drum and the red piece on the top which springs the drum broke and so Mr Kandy phoned Dyson as I had only had the hoover six months and they sent out a complete new drum which without the Guarantee would have cost around £65 I think it was and so it arrived a few days later.

Also this DC41 has a nice long plug lead so I can wander round the house hoovering my rooms without having to keep resorting to unplugging and re plugging in the plug.:snork:

Also don't forget the ones like Shineys will only hoover for around 20 minutes, then you have to sit around waiting for it to recharge before you can start again.:heehee:Me personally I would rather get one with hoovering the house in one go as I haven't got all day to wait for things to charge up:snork:

Having said that I wouldn't mind one of those that Shiney has for hoovering the caravan as it is awkward using my big one for the task, but at the moment I can't feel justified in spending £250 on such a small hoover just to hoover the caravan carpets a few times a year:biggrin:

There was nothing wrong with our DC07 but it was getting too heavy for us (put it on Freecycle).

The one above actually does an even better job than the DC07 and is also much quieter (better for my tinnitus). As it's so easy to use we don't mind only having 20 minutes at a time. It just takes a second to take it from its clip in the cupboard and then put it back so there's no hassle.

Mrs Shiney loves it so much, because it's so light and no messing around with cables, that she uses it more than before. As it works so well and is so easy to use it takes much less time than the big one we had. :blue thumb: One charge does almost the whole of the place in 20 minutes (but it won't do the summerhouse on the same charge). The summerhouse gets cleaned more often now because it weighs so little it's easy to take across there.

I haven't used it yet on my car - only had the cleaner a few months and it isn't my car's birthday yet! :heehee:

Blimey Shiney, the DC07 went out with the Ark:snork:

Well there you go Shiney as you have only had the cleaner for a few months(Wish I could afford a cleaner) she is obviously young and fit enough to hoover the whole house in 20 minutes:love30::biggrin:

                        Hi Woo,
I hated my Dyson so gave it away and went to my local repair man and asked him which make and model provided him with the least business - he told me Henry every time. He said any business/hotel etc may have a bright shiny vac on show but there's always an old reliable Henry under the stairs for when it breaks down.
Don't think they make an upright though.

Hi Woo, It would be worth looking at a Sebo they are upright! John Lewis sell them. I know everyone loves a Dyson but they don't quite do it for me! I have one but it's not my most treasured gadget! The whole emptying process really irritates me! I take the dust compartment outside to the dustbin when I use it because they make so much mess when you empty them, I think they are cumbersome & heavy, I've not tried the new cordless one, I guess that would be lighter?
I'm loving this thread, everyone's diferent opinions are making me chuckle!:heehee:
