Hello from Lynda in Kent

Hi fellow gardening folk. I'm Lynda, I'm 54 and I live in Medway in Kent. I am a full time carer for my partner who has multiple sclerosis and is largely bed bound and I had to give up work around 4 years ago when I had a breakdown. It was around this time that I discovered a love of all things gardening, prior to this I had never as much as planted a seed. It has really taken over my life now - to the point where my friend says she is going to see if there is a "gardeners anonymous" group and make me attend! Currently every part of the house is teeming with propogators, pots full of bulbs, hundreds of seeds and every intention of matching the hanging gardens of Babylon plant for plant this year *hopeful face* It's lovely to meet you all and I look forward to learning from you and hopefully having something to offer back x x

So sorry to hear about your husband's health and the toll it took on you Gardening can be therapeutic, absorbing, good exercise and productive. Oh, and you get to meet some really special people along the way too

Very warm welcome to you LyndaG. I'm a very new member too, joined last sunday. Ive been given such a great welcome here and am sure you're going to enjoy it. So many other gardeningholics lol!
I live in France now but spent most of my life in Sittingbourne, so very close.... So sorry to hear of you're difficulties and your partner's illness. That's very tough, but gardening is such wonderful therapy. It's so encouraging to see baby green things coming along and to experiment with all sorts if different plants. My husband had dementia so, although different, I really feel for you and what you're going through
Make sure you have a good rummage around the site, there are all sorts of gardening subjects, but also games and chat. Always a friendly face around somewhere - enjoy xx

Hi there and thank you. Wow - France! You lucky thing. I was in Sittingbourne earlier! Still you're much better where you are now I think! Sorry to hear about your husband also, it's difficult to imagine a caring role until you are are in it, eh?ironically I was a care manager prior to all this and although I was very aware of carers stresses and strains, I really don't think I could fully empathise, with the benefit of hindsight (a wonderful thing!) I love my gardening soooo much - never in a million years did I ever think gardening would be my thing - but here we are, lol. I look forward to chatting with you - enjoy your Saturday x x
