Have you taken a peak at the latest HFW book "Light and Easy"? The book steers away from gluten and dairy and offers alternatives.

Ah no I haven't seen that one, but it's a well recognised thing. Various nations don't base their diets on dairy and wheat, mainly eastern ones, and it's quite easy to have plenty of options at home. The problems come when eating out, though even then I can usually pick my way through.

We always tell the Chinese restaurants that we don't want MSG and they definitely leave it out (most of them are used to it by now). The only problem is that they then try to add more salt because they say it won't taste as good. So they also need to be told not to add extra salt. :blue thumb:

Woo, was that piece of fish 'otter than the other? :snork:

If you want to cook anything that would normally need flour you can use chick pea flour as it's gluten free :blue thumb:. Even one of our local pubs, that has a good restaurant, only uses chick pea flour now. :)

Thanks shiny, yes I use chick pea, buckwheat, rice, tapioca etc etc and it's all delicious. Thanks for the suggestion :blue thumb: :blue thumb:

Cor they look scrummy (do you have cuckoo marans? Gorgeous dark brown eggs there) Mine are yet to come back into lay after their Winter holiday, but then, this garden doesn't get *as* much sun as they are used to, so maybe they wish to wait a bit longer :heehee:

Made a paste out of , fresh garlic, fresh ginger root, brown sugar, little salt, dry mustard . Have a nicely marbled pork loin, deeply slit it on top about 8 rows, jammed the paste deep into the slits. Poured about 2 tablespoons soya sauce on top, now roasting. With that, sweet potatoes, and a veggie Smells great

Oh dear! You all put me thoroughly to shame on this thread. I am truly the worst cook in the Western Hemisphere. Plus, I can't think of anything I would enjoy doing less. I pop a load of veg into the steamer, and that's it really. On a good day, a piece of fish as well. But if you ever come to visit me in Medway, I promise I know great take aways and it will be on me. Please don't all rush at once...............
