That looks a bit better Woo, only time I try to get stuff to jump out is when I want the snipping tool, and it never does it when I want it too

At least you can see it on there :)

Did you get offered the upgrade from 8.1 or did you search for it?

I see Windows 10 is due for official launch tomorrow.

As usual I shall be sitting tight with my current OS (Win7) at least until all the bugs have been worked out and possibly until they stop supporting Win7 which does everything I want it to do (never migrated to the awful Win8 - if I had charged for the number of 'helpdesk' urgent calls from friends and family to sort out Win8 I'd be a millionaire!!).

I still really like Windows 7 (as I liked WinXP) and am not really won over with the reviews and videos I've seen of Win10 which looks to me like a smartphone interface for a PC - not a good idea IMO. Still in famous Start menu is back due to popular demand (a good thing!). We shall see.

Be interesting to hear the pros and cons from people more daring than me. I see people on W7 and W8 have a year to make up their minds about going to 10. Seems reasonable.

                  GG

I am going to roll my Windows 8 machines over pretty much straight away (after backups of course), simply because it is free and I don't feel that I have much to lose as Windows 8 is nowhere near as slick in its operation than Windows 7 is. Providing I get on OK with Windows 10, I will then switch the laptop over to Windows 10 whilst it is still free.

If you have any plans at all to make the move GG, I wouldn't leave it too long or you will end up paying for it - besides, I reckon they will have thrown everything bar the kitchen sink at this one to get it right after the balls-up that is Windows 8.

I was offered the Windows 10 update a couple of months ago and have the little white window icon waiting for me. I've checked it out and yes, I have every intention of updating from Windows 7 but not for a few months. I've been warned that there could be a lot of initial glitches to iron out and with an old machine that I'm nursing I'm not prepared to give it any more stress. Plus, with a weak computer knowledge I don't want to get bogged down with complications.

We can take up the free offer any time during the next year but after that it will cost unless a new computer is invested in, which isn't far off for me anyway.

@Sheal - my offer of some time ago still stands; you can download Teamviewer and I am more than willing to jump on and give you online help with your PC

Thanks for the offer @fat controller :) but there's not a lot you can do to help. My son-in-law knows the in's and out's of computers and has recently given it the once over, he has told me it's just a matter of time before it gives up the ghost. It's taking fifteen minutes on start up just to get to the point where I can use it. There are various problems going on so I'm making sure I back up externally and regularly now because it could give up at any time. I'm not sure of it's age but it's at least seven years old and getting tired. It's a laptop by the way.
