I pruned our Hypericum"Hidcote" today, i really didnt want too tbh as it still looked nice but i knew if i left it it'd be far too big for the space its in come next year and hang out onto the lawn so it got a good prune whether I wanted to or not:paladin:I love the smell you get from Hypericum when you bruise the leaves, its sorta like aniseed, love it :wub2:its like catnip to me...i could roll around In it in absolute bliss....but i dont! Just so you know:roflol:

Spent a good hour or so leveling the top soil i put down ready for turf. Determined to have a perfectly flat lawn! Using a length of wood and working back and forth but it's ruddy hard work!

I managed to get some of the work done in that I cleared all the stuff away and swept the drive, plus emptied some larger planters of spent compost. I never realised I had so much stuff in the garden so I've been ruthless and binned several wicker hanging baskets and lots of other bits and pieces. I repotted one plant and moved some smaller planters around but didn't get round to doing the dwarf Rhodos, so will do that today if it stays dry. Need to decide where I'm going to put the lilac before I pot that up. I've got a ton of bulbs in planters which I'm going to move into troughs and put out the front.

I have a nosey neighbor next door, they are hippys and we all got along until she started walking around her garden nude about innapropriate considering I have 3 kids so I staryed to put up a 6 ft which mysteriously keeps falling apart and being broken, when taken up with her with no success and going to council to report the issue she now thinks it's clever every day to play loud music every morning and all day so we no longer talk to her sad really as we not he arguing type

              I could wait no longer!

This morning the sun is kinda shining and I've hard pruned our Buddleja davidii 'Santana' and trimmed off the top shoots of the Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace' to get it to branch more. I used the left over for some hard wood cuttings. The Buddleja was still in full leaf though  (btw, I think these two look fantastic together with the dark purples of the lacy Sambucus and the acid green of the variegated Buddleja).

I also moved the Buddleja a foot to the left. I had to disturb some of its roots but it still had a good root ball. I know it's a bit OTT to disturb it for such a small move but in our tiny garden space is a premium especially with 24 Dahlias on their way in April! The Buddleja's only been there one year so should be OK.

Grow lots of bee attracting flowers. Great for nature, not so great for bare skinned naturalists ;)

Goodness me..I can see a lot of business going on on this thread. I have thought about going out to my little garden, but not today. In my defence I have fed my six orchids indoors and agreed to check out a friends lecky lawnmower. That will kick me off for the season. Soon be time to track down some onions sets I guess.

Don't look, as you could be called a peeping tom, and don't do anything like that yourself as then you could be called a flasher

Hence why I put a fence up, if she keeps breaking the fence I'll find another way around it I'll grow a natural screen of some sort

We had some sunshine here and there's nothing like a bit of sunshine and blue sky to tempt me into the garden even though I was doing the boring stuff. Washed seed trays, pots and scrubbed my plant labels which had all been soaking. Put a few more in soak for tomorrow. Noticed that my crocus "gypsy girl" and "snow bunting" are flowering. :dancy: Gave up and came inside when my back started complaining.
