Good afternoon Fern hope your back improved very soon:)

I have been constructing two small banks at the top of my garden 8 ft long and 2 ft in width,so I can put some Japanese Anemones there along the fence:smile:

I'd plant some holly or something else really prickly that'll poke her in the bits if she comes near it. Re the noise nuisance, keep a diary of times/dates and then report her to environmental health.

Have you tried turning it on? :snork: I've never done such a stupid thing in my life, nope, not me

We had an hour or so this morning so I sowed some sweet peas which had been soaking and split and repotted an agapanthus bressingham blue. I sliced though some of the bulbs though so don't know if I've been too brutal.:frown::dunno:
Other half has wired some lighting into my shed and replaced a fence panel so looking good. I'm off all week so lots to do.

Potted on my 3 Brug cuttings,Ammi Majus and shuffled plants around in the GH,also gave them a squirt with lavender water to keep the bugs off...
What I'd like to know is who gave greenfly the right to take root in MY GH at this time of year:mad:

Okay I give up. I've been dragging heavy planters up and down the drive and my aching back is now even more achy. Anything that's not done will have to wait for another day.

I also cut back most off my type 3 clematis . Trimmed the Virginia creeper back by half , its probably one of our favourite plants but had just got a bit too big. Removed the dead (?) Cobea Scandens , cup and saucer vine . My first Cobea scandens , it is a lovely climber and covered the fence no problem , late summer very pretty flowers . I presume it won't grow back ? I am growing the white Cobea scandens this year.

Well has been a reasonable day with just some showers, so moved a variegated hebe, a kerria and my poor Michelia which suddenly found itself in line with biting battering winds since the neglected land next to me was suddenly cleared of 5m high brambles that have been there ever since I moved in five years ago. So I'm trying to make a wind break along that side which has the prevailing wind. Hope the Michelia will be ok, but it couldn't stay there, so hobsons choice... Oh and moved a young peche de vigne too. Cleared brambles and planted Ilex a. Golden King, rhaphiolepsis, and two Sambucus nigra Black Tower. Phew, am now with cuppa watching the rugby  :hapfeet:
                    :)

Was absolutely glorious here today, warm and sunny and felt more like late Spring than late Winter. Today I was mostly tackling moss - scraping it off flower beds which was quite a delicate task with so many bulbs coming through. No matter what I do each year it comes back with a vengeance. There's also some other stuff which is more 'waxy' than moss (lichen, maybe?) which had to be removed too. Any ideas for the prevention of these would be warmly welcomed

Went back out and cut back our Choisya, I know it's not quite the right time of year but this week is going to be mild and it's been seriously bugging me - it's at the front of the border overshadowing everything behind it. I'm going to attempt to topiarise it in spring. Also trimmed back some of the neighbour's overhanging tree and dug up some of the remaining blue bell bulbs hanging on from my attack last year.

Brought out the brugs from the outhouse and cut all the dead bits off.

I think technically you can cut back whatever is growing over your fence unless it's a tree in a protected area. I was just trimming a few scraggly twiggy bits (they should thank me as they were covered in disease and caterpillars!). There is one big branch from this tree growing over which I'd really like to get rid of but I wouldn't go that far without speaking to them first. I can live with it for now though.
