I'm intrigued by the hedge in the 'pollards and chimneys' picture in post #4. Love the structure and form of the bare branches. Any idea what kind of hedge it was? Perhaps a beech hedge which has been cut back hard, or was it something else?

 

I remember something similar at Edinburgh Botanic Garden, bloody cockroaches...

That Daphne in the last photo looks stunning
