A good choice Woo! I believe Armandii has the same one, so perhaps you can compare notes. :)

Good Morning all my friends I have two old concrete lines poles to dispose of ,to heavy to lift and to hard to break up so all I can think of is to cover them with soil and hide them, not what I want to do :dunno::smile:

Could you use them as an "edge" to something/somewhere?

If I'm not mistaken, they are in the corner where you plan to put your Garrya? Could you drag them to make that corner into a square (two sides are the fence and the two poles would complete the square) and then plant the Garrya in that newly formed square? Then, the same area could be planted with say, vinca which would eventually spread and cover the poles?

Woo, would you have a friendly neighbour that would dispose of them for you. You could cut them in half with a hammer and chisel or use a masonry drill and gradually drill through them. Don't forget to wear glasses if you try this though. :)

Good afternoon @Sheal I have tried to break it up with a club hammer and a bulster, also with a sledge hammer and tried with a grinder but the sparks frightened me:heehee:I have two neighbours but they are disabled and I spend a lot of time helping them in their gardens, but thank you for thinking of me,I have decided to put the turfs that I remove from creating the new border over the concrete posts and making a little bank and plant over it,I would appreciate any advice of what flowers to plant in my new border as your corner border looks lovely:smile:

Good afternoon I have marked a new border along the base of 4 panels of fencing in the shape of a crescent it will be 25 ft in length and 3 ft in width and I my aim is to eventually get a mostly perennials flower border with the tallest at the back ,medium and shorter at the front weather permitting will start removing some grass tomorrow:smile:

Thank you for the compliment on my border bed Woo. :)

First off, can you tell me which way your border faces please? As you know it will make a difference as to what plants do well there.

It's going to look lovely, I do like a new border appearing. Do you have a colour scheme in mind?
I love some of the latest geums like 'Alabama slammer'. Would look nice with some dark leaved dahlias like bishops children and rudbeckia cherry brandy.
