    Hi Spruce,
I hope you see this...if you remember last year I bought some daylily plants and split some established ones all of which are sitting in my veggie plot. They are just starting to peep through so do I let them put on more growth or should I transplant ASAP? I just want to give them the best start I can. We could have snow/frost for a while yet.

      Hi hows you ?
Whats your weather like in France ?
Yes mine are doing the same , I have all 3 types , evergreen , half evergreen and the ones that die right back into the ground.

Personally, I would wait a little longer until the cold snap is over with, I normally split and/or replant in the middle of March or late September , but in the meantime you could prepare the new places you are going to plant with new compost/ bonemeal, manure if you can get hold of any, so its all ready to go and all settled. If you want to do now you could but make sure no frost the day you are sorting them out also a mulch with bark chips keeps them snug.
Remember full sun and no other plants competing for space with them otherwise they sulk and you will get less or no flowers.
Is your soil ready to dig ? mine is still too wet.

I bought two new varieties one I have been waiting over 3 years to get my hands on it

OMG that Jelly Dancer is to die for! That must look stunning en masse. Thanks for the information Spruce I've got some lovely well rotted manure to add to their new island bed so that should keep them happy they are all out in full sun with not a scrap of shade. Weather here is teasing one day snow the next 15 and sunny. Can't wait to see my new ones in bloom. My soil goes from soaking to bone dry in hours so a day without rain and it's ready to go. Mind today is misty, 3 and miserable so I'm going to sow seeds indoors.

They do really well in a island bed and lots of manure , they will love it , I cant wait to see your photos , anything else just ask use this thread and I will find it in my alerts.
Do you know if any of yours have names ? .

I will select some to seed this year and give you the names of the parents as each one will be a new variety it can be a mixed bag on how they turn out , and send you some later in the year if you want ?

Spruce, seeds would be fab! These are the ones I ordered last year:
Parnasse, Court Magician, Key to My Heart, Flameburst, Mynelle's Starfish, Land of Cotton and finally, Night Embers. I'll take loads of photos when they are in flower.

I will add the photos on here for you , to think I have over 150 and I dont have one of yours :snork:
But I know all apart from Parnasse & Flameburst, I will do the height as well so you have the tall ones in the middle of the island .

Draw out on paper the shape of the island bed and make a note of the name of each one and mark on your plan as you plant or pre-plan , so if any labels go missing you can find out the name easily enough. I will add photos in a few mins with heights
