I believe Taxus baccata 'Standishii' is female and has berries, whereas the more readily available and less expensive Taxus b. fastigiata is faster growing and eventually larger and is male with no berries. I had Standishii and absolutely loved it, planted on a raised alpine bed. I wanted something really small.

mostly spent the day grumbling about not being able to spend the day in the garden as I'd planned. Managed to sow some perennial seeds in the propagator to keep me happy though.
Also braved the rain to go outside and measure up the area we need to fence ready for our hens when they arrive! 13 sleeps...

Here's one. My poor limp cucumbers that apparently don't like February, being in a greenhouse or being cool, despite the
          saying! Lol

Oh yes @LyndaG you can certainly stroke them, my little B is an exbat, She jumps on to my lap for a cuddle & has been known to jump on to hubbys shoulder when he was sitting in the garden! you need some, I love mine so much, I love them more than most humans! They are so funny, mine knock on the cat flap with their beaks! Steel the cat food when they dash in the kitchen (they are so quick when you open the back door!) they run so fast they have to stick out their wings! I shall stop there as I don't want to bore you but they really all have such diferent characters & personalities!

              Now you're asking..

Foxglove, lupin, Echinacea something or other Aaaaand... Eeer.. something I can't pronounce, spell or remember.

I know it's early for them, but I'm impatient and figured I'd keep them inside until they could be planted out and hope for the best

Bit early for cucumbers to be honest @Sarah Giles - one of our most knowledgeable members @Kristen stated a few years back that cucumbers wake up each day looking for a new way to die....

Mid-March at the earliest for cucumbers to be sown

Then it is time .... to reap what you have previously sown ... relax, enjoy and .... recuperate!
Healing vibes being sent your way.

I'm well enough to do stuff *in* the garden, but today I'm having a "research" day - over did the walk with Ozzy yesterday ... we discovered, what I believe to be, badger sets at the edge of one of the fields I hadn't been to before. I was fascinated (and Ozzy, completely disinterested  ) and counted a good half dozen just in that area. It was ok all the while we were travelling down the slope  :heehee:

IMAG0022.jpg Still clearing... The weather is very strange today with sleet, snow, rain and glorious sunshine. Very confusing.

Got my hands on some chicken wire and am heading to look at feeds/straw and other bits to make the chicken fence in a bit.
