It is official, I have got old. I have decided to save money and grow some plants from seeds, instead of giving the garden centre loads of money each year for pre propagated plants.

I have got several seed trays on the go (though 'on the go' is probably not the correct phrase to use).

My sweet peas are going mad, fuchsias are doing ok (Once I realised not to water very often), lavender is being slow (though I have been told lavender has a habit of not wanting to get out of bed until the very last minute). I do though have an issue with my pansies, foxgloves etc.

The issue is that they seem to have germinated, and have sprouted up the drone leaves .. ( yes I know they are called cotyledon, but drone leaves sound so much cooler) but they have now stopped there. No true leaves seem to be developing. I just have a bunch of fibre optics cables and drone leaves.

    Am I just impatient ?

I was in the same boat. A few further weeks on I think as I now have a growth spurt. Twiddle your thumbs for a few weeks. Drone leaves is way cooler though I don see the youth picking it up any time soon!

Drone leaves, I like it too. I think you need to be more patient, you arent going to get alot of growth at all at this time of year, surprised the Lavender has germinated at all.

With most seeds it's best to start in March as daylight is becoming stronger then, this is probably why your seedlings are probably stalling. Having said that other seedlings like your Sweet Peas are galloping to gain light and becoming leggy. Pinch out the tops of the Sweet Peas after the second or third pair of true leaves and it will help them to branch out. When you come to potting them on plant the seedlings slightly lower in the soil. Lavender is slow to get away and will catch up at a later point. :)

You did and so did I! :dunno:
What I said was that I thought that the heat of the house had germinated the seeds only for the seedlings to discover that there was naff all light (owing to the short daylight hours) and had stalled.
            Most odd.
