Parsnips have germinated, as have the latest sowing of Mizuna.

Well, you'd better get them in pronto. The root will be at the bottom in no more than a couple of days! When I grew them, I used toilet roll cores, and the root was at the bottom in well under a week

Will do, got the ground ready, and todays frost has broken it up nicely :)

There is a new mouse hole in the greenhouse and half my onion sets have gone.

Think these 2 things may be connected :th scifD36:

I've had mice destroy my overwintering onion setts to the point that I don't bother with them anymore.

If in a bog roll tube the root will be at the bottom (now there's a pun) in 3 days, if in "plugs" of lesser height then more urgent to plant out.

Yep, would have planted out today if the ground wasn't frozen, fortunately the plugs have a big hole at the bottom and they're on wire trays so any roots will be hanging out the bottom :phew:

I grew some of those two years ago. They produced some very good sized bulbs, and super flavour:dbgrtmb:

Nice one Freddy, good to hear!

These Onions and Leeks are doing pretty well, past the crook stage already - when can I put them in the (unheated) greenhouse?

I'm assuming you have them on a windowsill? At this stage, I don't think they'll like being left in the greenhouse overnight, given the current night-time temperatures. Also, I think they will suffer a bit from lack of light, even if they're on a windowsill. I would suggest that for now, put them in the greenhouse during the day, and bring them in at night. A bit of a chore, but it's all I can suggest. Maybe others will have some ideas.

Yes they're on a windowsill so I should leave it for a while yet I guess. I hope they don't get too leggy before long.
