Does anyone else own one of these by chance? The brushes on the roller on mine are really tangled up with dog hairs so decided the best way to clean it would be to remove the roller, WRONG!!!!!! nearly an hour and 6 screws removed later The damn thing will not come out, cannot find any instructions on how to do this so was unable to use the machine. Anyone know how to do it? it surely shouldn't be this difficult.
Used reliable Henry in the end, although it did accidentally suck up one of the screws so now I only have 5. :gaah:

@""M" Thank you for posting that, I have read that, it doesn't tell you how to remove the brush roller, I know you can remove it because you can buy another as a spare part, but how do you remove it?!?!? There isn't even a tutorial on YouTube.

Having just taken apart my Vax Rapide carpet washer, I can testify to the obscurity of their build; quality isn't up to much either if truth be told.

      Don't know if yours will be the same, but I had to remove a cover that covers the belt run to reveal the spindle on the end of the beater bar that the belt runs over (see my rubbishy diagram below);

      vax.png
The wee purple, upside-down T shape shows where two screws go in to hold the beater bar assembly to the body of the cleaner head (also shown as purple circles on the end view in the red box at the bottom left); you need to remove those two screws, then use a bit of grunt to wiggle the beater bar out of position (pulling roughly in the direction of the green arrows). The aim is to get the wee latched end that tucks into the body of the machine to 'turn' out of position and then you will be able to draw the whole beater bar out by pulling it through the hole left as this 'end plate' comes out.

At the other end, the beater bar is simply a hexagonal 'nut' type thing that pushes into a hexagonal recess in the body - it should just pop out.

Of course, your machine may be nothing like this......

We had one, they have five year warranty, just phoned them up, saying it would not re-set and they sent within two days a complete new head Free of Charge

Now out of warranty, and given to daughter, phoned them up about very loud noisy motor
They have a set price of £80, the engineer came within 24 hours, replaced the motor and provided two sets of filters, checked machine over (if it needed anything else it is done under the set price)
So £80 for a new machine is pretty good

        Good luck

@fat controller Yes, my machine is a bit different, but again thank you for taking the trouble. Every screw I can see has been removed it still won't budge.

@Jack McHammocklashing Nothing wrong with the head, it doesn't need re-setting it is turning fine, all I want to do is get the roller out. :wallbanging:

The only other thing I can suggest is to use a sharp blade (and I mean sharp with a capital F) and use it to cut the hair etc away from the beater bar

          Thanks again FC,
This would be possible but very fiddly, to be honest I am losing patience with it now, it should be really easy to remove and clean the brushes and it isn't, I'll wait until my Son comes on Sunday and let him have a look at it he's usually quite good with things like this, if he can't figure it out either then quite honestly I don't want it, I would never buy another Vax.

I can only agree with you Val - I am less than impressed, especially given the money they cost

OK I have to tell you that dear Woo has in fact solved my problem, he found out for me that the brush roller assembly on this model is a sealed unit!!!! It isn't supposed to come apart, why they made it this way is anybody's guess, utterly stupid, they even recommend this model if you have pets!?!?!?

I want a Roomba even more now!

Aye, poorly made rubbish. What is a Roomba? Sounds like something Bruce Forsyth might do

It's round Val, that means it won't be able to clean in the corners.
