    Hi folks

Do I need to soak CS seeds before sowing them. There seems to be mixed information online with some sites saying yes and some saying no. Has anyone grown these? What did you do?

    Thanks :)

Didn't know you had to soak them! Still I'll be sowing mine in a few weeks so it's good to know. The seed prices are so expensive I suppose that shows how difficult they are to germinate even for the seed companies

Never did get a packet of white ones if I manage to get a few seeds for next year I'll have to see if I can trade for some :)

Thanks Harry. I've put them in soak. Hopefully I'll get a few to germinate. I did find information that said germination was erratic so fingers crossed. Just got to remember to put them on their edges.

Got my Cobaea seeds on EBay, stuck them in a pot (on their edge!) they've all germinated! This, I assure you, is pure luck!

Hi Harry, I didn't do anything other than put them on their edge in the soil. That's it. No soaking, nothing. They are in the prop though, and they germinated in about 6 days. If yours don't make it, I am happy to send you a couple of these babies when they are robust enough to travel in the post! Sorry I can't give you more help, as I said, it was beginners luck, not my gardening skills :roflol:

When should I be sowing mine? I thought beginning of April but it seems everyone else has started a bit earlier?

If in doubt ICR I always go for the middle of March when I'm not sure of something, it's the stepping stone between winter and spring. :) It's a long while ago since I grew them but I seem to remember them taking a while to get underway, so perhaps now is a good time.

ICR the absolute final day for sowing Cobea Scandens is the 9th of March .
I would get them in now ICR and follow Lynda's advice off not soaking the seeds first.
