What's Buzzing or Flying near you today... 2015

A lot of them are Sheal, there are quite a few nest boxes around and ringing is done every year which helps with the local population surveys. I don't think the Squirrel was!!!
Some might want to ring it's.......

Some of the Goldfinches were also ringed.

Brents are the only Geese you see here in flocks on the sea.

 

There was @Zigs.......he absconded to my avatar! Oystercatcher's are quite skittish, he probably took one look at you with the camera and said I'm off.

The first Wheatear to arrive in Dorset has been seen at Portland so more will be on the way so the start of the Summer visitors and passage migrants is under way.
I had to check that the Buzzard wasn't an Osprey as they will be arriving anytime now in Poole harbour but unlike in the Autumn they will only stop briefly for a couple of days.

The Winter Ducks and waders are gradually thinning out as they start to head off to their Northern breeding grounds or in the case of Avocets and Spoonbills, Holland and Denmark.
There are still a few around, one Spotted Redshank is still here.

saw my 1st wasp, its in the greenhouse so must of tucked itself into one off the pots that I brought inside to over winter.
