Dragged the treeferns out of the garage into the conservatory. Gave the overwintered plants a good drink now theres a bit of heat in there.
Chopped a few more logs before I try to dry them in this years amazingly hot and long summer ?

Checked the upstairs shelves. Spinach, peas, beetroot, tomatoes (5 types) and runner beans have all germinated. Beyond excited. Just can't wait until we can put stuff outside - hurry up sunny weather!

Rosebay, are you saying you've bought Lupins for baskets? They are a garden plant and will grow up to 4ft tall and wide.

Got an hour up the allotment so made a broad bean bed/canes and got some sown. Made a sturdier cloche for the carrots and started planning it all out. Bought lots of garden bargains at aldi too so have lots to plant

Yes this is what I thought also. However, in the section for hanging baskets were these plug plant sized small lupins!!! I figured they might be dwarf ones until I got them home and read the label.

I think they were probably in the wrong section, even dwarf Lupins are to big for baskets.

Don't give them away! Plant them all round the border of your front garden. That'll get people to stop and look. :heehee: It'll probably get you into the local paper :blue thumb:

Whoops!!! :hate-shocked: You're only a couple of months too early :snork: They'll be climbing the wall by the time you can plant them out. It's ten weeks before you can plant them out (unless you're lucky) and they'll be 6ft high by then! :)

I did another wheelie bin full of moss and weeds from one of the front flower beds. When the last season's dead bits from the plants are cut back (Mrs Shiney's job) the bed will look good. :blue thumb: Just half acre more to go

Managed to grab an hour or so in the garden. Cleared a lot more of the bed where my greenhouse is to go. A friendly robin dropped by looking for worms as I took a short break. Relocated a buddleia to the decking area, so that it was blocking a view into the neighbour's garden. Mistake! Apparently when SWMBO and I had discussed moving it, I thought we had agreed where it was to go - but we hadn't - I'm told! Oops.
Hoping to get out of the doghouse today, and maybe turn a little more over.

Note to self: must teach the chooks the difference between a weed and a plant
After their morning outing, it was my turn to pick up the bulbs they had unearthed down by the rear fence :chicken:
There is a small corner near the patio which I tidied up last week, so each one of the bulbs they scratch out down the rear end, I replant there :heehee:
Checked on the seeds I planted last week and the "Hanging Basket" collection is showing signs of life already! I'm really surprised (and thrilled). Last year someone at work gave me a couple of kits (3 bags of seeds within it's own mini propagator and some type of soil pellets). Didn't cost me anything so it was worth planting.
Now to keep them nurtured and hopefully (:fingers crossed: ) I'll have a lovely couple of hanging baskets this year :blue thumb:

In exchange for a mid week loaf, I got 3 x trailing Orange begonias. I have sunk them shallowly into MPC and sand, covered them with Vermiculite, put them in a white plastic margarine tub base, covered them with a sheet of cling film.... :phew: = TMI) and put them in the airing cupboard near the warm inpipe to encourage them to root...
                              fingers crossed,

Oof... No one warned me gardening was such hard work! Just having a break for lunch after clearing leaves/raking more of the allotment. This afternoon with be hoeing and preparing the soil ready for planting some lovely veggies and raspberry/blackcurrant!
