Primrose which went from 1 plant to 8 in 12 months, young acer 'Katsura' has fully leafed out in the greenhouse, hellebore gift divided last year and snowdrops amid a newly emerging phlox clump.

That's interesting, my young Acer Pink Dwarf is starting to leaf up now. Its leaves kept dying last year but it seems to still be healthy. I put that down to poor root growth in its first year. I'm surprised to see the leaves so early, although our garden is very sheltered and warm.

Mine is in my unheated greenhouse. Might not put it out this year, planning to keep potting it on. I have a much larger one in a nice pot I will put out but my 4 young ones aren't much to look at.

Planted a few more Cannas..A russian Giant red, some Wyoming and some orange variegated (they are on the windowsill covered in plastic sheet), begonias (giant trailing) to go in the half moons on the wall, and some of last years Dahlias as well as new ones. Pleased with the Greenery as it's lasted all winter, which is what i wanted. Strange that the Pelargoniums have flowered throughout winter here on the Wirral, trimmed them the other day.... and the Cannas that are in pots, i've only just last week cut them down ready for the new growth (if it comes) in Spring. Also have quite a few Tulips and Aliums growing like billeo(again, all from last year, the alliums have doubled in quantity), so should look fab in a few weeks.I think with the garden being sunken, with walls all around, has protected it through the winter. The Marshmallow hasn't lost it's leaves either and has continued to grow. I blame Sal for my obsession for Cannas though, should have 20 this year! The CIDP hasn't been affected, and continued to grow throughout Dec, jan and Feb!! grd (1 of 1).jpg grd 2 (1 of 1).jpg grd 3 (1 of 1).jpg grd 4 (1 of 1).jpg

What I am fond of, in having this plant nearby, is that it reminds me of my childhood. On a walk to school, there were banks of these every Spring and their petals looked liked gold to me,

Wow! What a great idea for a stunning combination ... may have to pinch that idea from you  :heehee:
I feel your pain @nFrost - missing my previous garden too :cry3: But, that is motivating me on to tackling this one. I know I can't do it all in one season, but I can have a bliddy good shot at making some serious changes ;) Take heart, you haven't been there a full year ... yet :)
Strange isn't it: you hear much of people being home sick, or even empty nest syndrome ... but it isn't often you hear how someone is garden sick (hankering for the one they have left behind). I suppose now there are two of us ... we've begun a "trend" :heehee:
