Don't think it would work with my girls though ... they don't even "play dead" when Ozzy catches them and runs around the garden with one in his jaws
He managed to catch one earlier this week ... cue: feather explosion! I'm convinced this is an automatic response from the chooks to distract him so they can scarper. He's soft mouthed when he does get one (only 4th time ever) and there's never so much as a break in their skin but feathers galore around the garden It'll all be different when I put yesterday's pole "dance" into operation next month

 

Well not in this case....there were rows upon rows off them in this section. Now that you mention that the dwarf lupins you had were 6" wide (Sheal said they would be 2 foot wide...which is what my label also says)...I am hoping that just the label is wrong.....they are very tiny.

 

Ok...this wont take long...Planted and strung up the runner bean poles ready for seeding...Thats it.

 

I have failed to rebuild the dividing partitions for the compost bins. Need a little input on best way forward, not feeling emotionally strong enough to battle through the most obvious solution on my own.
If I can get myself back together again, will pot on my chilli seedlings, and maybe top up the compost in the barrels on either side of the front door.

 

.......and that was just before breakfast!?

Seriously though, that's an impressive, substantial amount of gardening!

I've been a bit off colour today so didn't make it outside apart from checking things. More bulbs are flowering and the tulips are all up. Can't wait to see them flower. Turned the seedlings on the window sill a few times and checked the prop for any signs of germination.

Whoops!!! You're only a couple of months too early They'll be climbing the wall by the time you can plant them out. It's ten weeks before you can plant them out (unless you're lucky) and they'll be 6ft high by then!

..........same here; I just thought could do runner beans, broad beans and peas at the same time. Of course, the runner beans are all germinating like mad. - Is there any way to slow down their growth? (They're on conservatoey windowsill.)

 

Haven't been out there for the last couple of days cos the nasty cold turned to sinusitis and I've been feeling totally yuck
However went to doc yesterday and in France they believe in belt and braces, so I need a larger medicine chest and am floating on a cocktail of antibiotic, something to stop that upsetting my tum, anti inflammatory, anti mucous and paracetamol!
I managed to float into the greenhouse this afternoon and have sown two types of Dierama, Primula vialli, Pennisetum villosum and Lysimachia atropurpurea.
While there I discovered that a Mandevilla I thought I'd killed has a couple of shoots
And that some Hibiscus trionum seed from 2004 has germinated... I see some Americans regard this as an invasive self seeding pest, but am hoping someone here has a good word to say for it now it's gone to the trouble of germinating ??

Well I have to admit Loli, I've not heard of dwarf Lupins this dwarf before, do you know how long they have been available please? It would seem that Lupins are available in three heights now.

@rosebay I would still say they are not suitable for baskets but would be fine in planters.
