I loved the Opel Manta :blue thumb:
The rally cars were always so well balanced in mid flight.
I would love to have a decent 80's motor as a second car :)

I remember them :) It was a good song :)
My mate had the 2.8i . It sounded great.
I borrowed it sometimes (such a long bonnet).
What engine was the GT4? @HarryS

I remember parking up at work, and the girl I really fancied said 'What the bloody hell are you doing driving that!' :heehee:
I saw her recently whilst in town with the wife. That chance meeting went down well :snork:. I am divorced now :heehee:

Here was my last car in the States before I moved back to the UK in 1977 ... my Ford Pinto ... same body as the Capri ... (that's my hubby on the right and me and best friends hugging, I'm the blonde, don't know who was taking the photo ... ) ...

                Pinto.jpg

There was an horrific accident in Alabama involving a Pinto (5 deaths) and the lawfirm I worked for represented the Plaintiffs and we won millions and I remember getting a massive bonus ... but I had to hide my car ... :love30:

Oooh, major dilemma there between a Manta and a Capri for me - - I always wanted a Manta when I was in my early teens, but by the time I got my driving licence, I took a shine to the Capri also. A friend appeared at my door with one a couple of years later (I was running a MK1 Golf at the time) and lobbed me the keys to have a play - - pretty thing it was too, two tone grey and black. I hadn't the heart to tell him that it was a gutless wonder (1.6 CVH Laser). I was spoiled by my Golf - said 'CL' on the boot lid and 1.1 on the registration document, but it had been transplanted with the lump from a 1.8 Golf Driver - - - it could climb trees from a standing start. I suppose that was when I caught the VAG virus; no matter how many other brands I have been to, I generally always end up with something from their stable.

That was only made worse when I was asked to help out by running a car for a while whilst a fuel issue was being diagnosed; the owner did hardly any miles, and didn't really have time to do many miles either - the only bit of a bind for me was that it would break down at random, and not start again for up to an hour - still, it was no real hardship:

2.2 litre, five pot, and it went like the bars of hell when it wanted to. Drop it into third, bury the right foot into the carpet and watch that vast bonnet rise up as she gathered her skirt and started running.......

Turned out to be a knackered fuel pump, and a fault with the injection system in the end; and I reckon that the odd Italian tune-up did it no harm before it went back to pottering around never seeing the upper end of the 40mph range.

I would post my history of cars, but you'd all fall asleep..........

Nahhh, that's no fun! It would have to be a red Corvette but I don't think Prince was around then to have him playing on a tape in the dash! :heehee:

There you go FC.......Freddy's got the right idea. :dbgrtmb: You'd need two parking lots for it though, one for the bonnet......
