Or for contactless payments!!!! (Horrible system). I'm glad that I don't allow 'Contactless' on mine. :) (The card has the facility but I've told the card company not to accept any payments that way :blue thumb:) A lot of money can be spent on the card before you realise it's missing and get home to phone the card supplier.

I don't use contact less payments either for
That very reason, I realise it's popular but for me it's too risky.

Today I'm really grateful for the roof over my head. To be homeless in this must be truly nightmarish and NOBODY in our country should be in that position in 2015.

Yes! Along with constantly being grateful to still be alive, this is another thing I am daily grateful for. I was street homeless in my teens for 6 months. Luckily I was always with 2 male friends/"brothers" who looked out as to where we could sleep that night but we were always cold, tired and hungry. So I have enormous compassion for those in this situation today....which seems far more Dickensian than when it occurred to me.

Be careful how you insert your card into the card machines. some of the new ones are extremely sensitive and can read your card as you put it near it. :hate-shocked: Before you insert the card put your other hand over the screen on the reader. :blue thumb:

Oh my goodness :yikes: I didn't know that Shiney :hate-shocked:, not just my pin that I need to cover, thanks for telling me that :dbgrtmb: I shall be even more careful in future!
I'm a bit ocd when I use cash machines too, I only use the machines inside the bank where possible, I feel that way I'm a bit safer. I know of too many horror stories where people have been distracted & had their card/cash/pin stolen! Terrible that we live in a society where you are always looking over your shoulder!

Once you've inserted the card you don't need to keep the screen covered. So it's only for a couple of seconds.

When they opened the new Aldi near us the machine took my payment before I had got the card to the machine. I spoke to the manager and their head office and they had the machine adjusted.

OMG! Thats dreadful Shiney, I'm pleased that you spoke to the manager & head office, well done you. Honestly everything's getting a bit too efficient for my liking, I don't want to get stuck in a time warp but there has to be a limit on all this stuff.
I did a grocery shop a few weeks ago, whist standing in the que I was talking to a middle aged chap, he seemed genuine enough & friendly so why not, anyway to cut a long story short he went to pay for his goods & I noticed he'd passed his smartphone over to the checkout lady, I had to ask what he was doing (stupid me didnt know) he explained that he had an app on his smart phone which contained all his reward cards/bank cards/credit cards etc so he was paying for his groceries using his phone! My mind boggles, for me that's too risky & too clever! :rolleyespink:
