Just sowed my Toms for the year......nothing too exciting.....Jaune Flamme, Rosada, Shirley, Ailsa Craig, Alicanti. To be honest, after trying new varieties and having had two seasons of very little Sun that the new varieties didn't crop well in, I decided to go back some that I trust and know will crop well and reliably.:coffee::snork:

I thought on Ailsa Craig and Alicante this year Armandii but didn't know anything about them. Do they have a good flavour please?

I think so, Sheal, but taste is a personal thing. For me, they taste very rich and sweet and being of reasonable size they're useful for many meals, plus they are reliable. For the bit of extra sweetness I like Jaune Flamme and most definitely Rosada although they are smaller and plum shape.........but others will disagree.:dunno::snork::coffee:

Thanks Armandii. :) I'm not a lover of plum tomatoes I find the skins tend to be thicker and tougher, but I'll try one or both of the others next year.

I've got the first "starter" pair of leaves on mine; just waiting for the "proper" pair to develop and then I shall pot them on.

PS: Edited to add - John, yours look great! :blue thumb:

@Jenny namaste , if I remember right, you only grow outdoors? If so, there's nothing wrong with waiting for a further week or two. Indeed, I won't be sowing those destined for outdoors until mid-April.

Looks like they were sown several weeks ago. What variety are they?

@Freddy - too late! I succumbed this afternoon...
sowed a few seeds of :
Sungold F1, Suncherry F1, Beefmaster F1, Gardeners Delight and 4 xTumblingToms ( 1 for me and the 3 others for neighbours )
I may do a few Maskotkas in a couple of weeks,
so the Tomato madness is underway....

I'm no lover of thick skinned toms either, Sheal, and maybe because they are small"dessert" plum toms I've never found the skins to be different to other varieties.:dunno: If you do try either I would put Rosada ahead of Jaune Flamme on sweetness and richness in taste by a slight margin:coffee::snork:
